@Mrs Hedgehog: I’m at work tonight so Boyfriend or Best Friend and I missed out on a seder as well. I told him we should have a random one on a Wednesday (no idea if it is sacreligious). I’ll just have to figure out what goes in to it. He’ll want brisket and latkes and matzah ball soup any day I can make it, so we can have random Jewish dinner night.

And Happy Pesach to you as well. I should say that to his mother. See if she has any idea what I’m talking about.

Happy Pesach to you! I ALMOST missed tonight’s sedar thanks to my jerk boss, but I got it fixed. 🙂

The gefilte fish tonight wasn’t horrible. It was homemade. So, while still not the most delicious thing one could eat, it wasn’t stomach turning.

YUMMM brisket…

@Mrs Hedgehog:  Happy Passover to you as well!  I am going to participate in my first Passover (or is it Sedar) meal tomorrow evening.  My hubby’s family is Jewish and his mother is in town, so it is the first Passover they’ve been able to celebrate in several years.  I’m looking forward to learning their rituals.  Is there anything I should be warned about in advance?  I heard there is some discussions about the plague?  Please tell me I don’t have to eat the fish?  yuck!

@melisslp: It’s all about the plagues. It’s about the Exodus story. The escape from Egypt. The final plague being the killing of the first-born son in the houses not marked with lamb’s blood. The angel of death “passed over” those.

The seder I went to tonight (Seder is the meal/ceremony, but you can totally just say passover), had snakes and bugs all over the table as decoration. 😀

Just get ready for a loooong meal with LOTS of wine. 😉

@Mrs Hedgehog: I traditionally go to this one friend’s house for 2nd night seder every year. I LOVE the haggadah he uses – it’s from the 1940s, vaguely socialist, and VERY VERY SHORT.

Happy Passover to you as well! We are going to seder on Friday night at a friend’s house. Ive never been to a seder for Passover, only a normal Friday night seder. But we got a seder plate for our wedding so we will be bringing that.

chag sameach!

@Mrs Hedgehog:i’m just eating cottage cheese and fruit for lunch this week. it’s also easy to make matzo sandwiches — you can use the leftover brisket from the seders.

there’s a really good spike mendelson recipe for matzo pizza!
