awww, thats amazing ๐Ÿ™‚  We’re paying for our whole weddings as well, but my parents are:

1. Flying to Australia from Canada and coming 3 weeks early to help me with last minute preparations

2. Throwing us a “we just got married” party in Canada, 6 days after flying back themselves! And its looking like it will be almost as big as the wedding, in terms of guestlist.

I love them ๐Ÿ™‚

We had a two day wedding, with a fancy dinner at a private restaurant in the woods on the last night. My dad quietly paid the bill for the entire 2nd dinner. It was so generous of him and i love love love love him!

Awww.. such happy stories.  It’s good to see a HAPPY post in the Family section for once.  LoL.

My parents are hosting our at home reception.. basically paying for everything!  Also, my mom paid for my dress!  :o)

Side note:  Yay!!  My 1,000th post!

They drove my dad, my brother, my second “brother”, his girlfriend and ton of my stuff 1500 miles each way to the wedding ( my mom flew one way, my brother the other) AND they paid for almost everything with the wedding (we took care of the venue, tables and linens). They also rented out a house for the bridal party, my immediate family, and 3 of my friends (including the 2 that drove down with them) to stay in for the week.

They were just awesome!

We are paying for this ourselves.  My mom can’t help out (my fiance and I help her out financially) but my FIL’s recently came into some money and without a word to us, mailed us an engagement card with a check in it that will cover our flowers and DJ.  And in addition they offered to pay for our photographer.  I couldn’t believe it and cannot be more grateful.  I have the best future in-laws and am so happy they’ll soon be my family.

LOVE this thread!  It so easy to get caught up in all the drama that it’s hard to appreciate the good stuff our families do.  My husband and I paid for the wedding ourselves, but we had a ton of friendors mostly due to the generosity my mom has shown to others through the years.  Basically her connections probably saved us about $20,000 in extras, discounts or gifts that her friends threw in.  We called it the WOTC, wedding of the community, because people were so thoughtful toward us.

Plus, a family friend was going to drive us in his fully restored 1932 Model A Ford for the getaway car, but it was so hot, it broke down on our way to the church.  I assumed we’d have to jump in the back of another family car after the ceremony, but somehow my mom managed to call another friend to have his beaufiful white beast of an SUV waiting with a ‘just married’ sign outside the church, which looked like it was ‘supposed’ to be the original getaway car.

And my dad threw in $500 for the bar, which is a big deal for him.

Originally my mom told me she would put $300 towards my dress (she has very limitrd finances), but when it came time for me to pay her back, she said not to worry about it, it was already taken care of! Which was an extra $400 that I was able to put towards other things! Best. Mom. Ever. ๐Ÿ™‚

We paid for our wedding ourselves, and my parents paid for our beer. An extra $300 we didn’t need to come up with ๐Ÿ™‚

I just wanted to thank Mrs. Longcoat for starting such a positive thread.  It’s been flagged for positivity! [Sorry for the threadjacking!]
