Have you interviewed them personally? I sat down with 4, and the one-on-ones made a huge difference.

@mspartridge: I know exactly how you feel because I went thru it looking for our photographer. We had a budget for photography but Fiance was willing to splurge on it because it’s the only thing other than memories you have after the wedding. In my area, $3,000 and + is the average cost for photography but I wasn’t completely comfortable to spend that much money. I did a lot of research, received numerous quotes, and finally narrowed it down with Fiance and interviewed them. When we met our photographer, we were ready to book her. My mom and BMs picked her work over all the other photographers we met but I didn’t think we would be able to afford her. To our surprise, she was under 3k and her package was awesome! She has a great ability to use natural light and captures emotions so perfectly in pictures..not posey at all! Also, our personalities clicked with her so well it felt like we were catching up with an old friend.

My suggestion is to keep looking until you know the photographer you have in mind is the one you want to capture one of the most important days of your life — your wedding. You and your Fiance should feel comfy with your photographer because if you don’t then it may show in your pictures. I am POSITIVE you will find someone within your budget! Fiance and I did and we live in Miami ๐Ÿ™‚

@mspartridge: Planning from far is pretty tough, I can only imagine what you are going through! In all honesty, if there is something “off” from what you saw from the photographer’s portfolio then continue looking.

I’m going to highly recommend my photographer, Gloria Ruth (gloriaruth.com). She is the sweetest person you will ever meet and so easy going. Fiance and I loved her photography (so did my mom and BMs) because it’s so clear (not blurry at all), natural…no posing, and her use of natural light is amazing. I can show you some of my engagement pictures if you like to see her work, just send PM your e-mail. If you aren’t goint to take any e-pics then her first (she has three) wedding package will be about 2k which is a steal in Miami. All of her packages include printing rights, full-day wedding coverage, and editing of ALL your images and I believe album. We were shocked to find a photographer in South Florida that will edit (not minor touch-ups) all of our engagement and wedding pictures for under below 3k!

Feel free to PM if you like to see my e-pics and if you decide to contact Gloria…please let her know Di referred you to her ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck and if you have any questions let me know!

@mspartridge: $2200 is a good deal in South Florida. What’s the photographer’s name if you don’t mind me asking. The way Fiance and I weighed the investment for each of the photographer’s we interviewed based on how much we really liked their photos, their overall asthetics, what his/her package included, and their personality. Gloria was within our budget and she surpassed every other photographer in the categories we considered. We had one photographer who was offering us a package at $1800 but Fiance wasn’t too crazy about her personality, I didn’t absolutely love her work, and we would have payed a bit more for stuff we wanted but she didn’t include.

If you really like this photographer you are close to sign with then it wouldn’t be a bad idea to do the engagement shoot. It will give you an idea of how her work is and if you and your Fiance click with her personality. We had tons of fun with Gloria Ruth and our pictures looked effortless because she allowed us to be ourselves and her way to give directions was easy-going.

In all honesty, it is your decision and I can understand your position in not wanting burn this photographer. Go for it if you really love her pictures. Personally, I would hate to sign someone who I like but not absolutely love and then possibly breaking the contract with them. I would feel like I’m wasting their time and mine. In fact, I was in a somewhat similar position with one photographer because I really liked the guy’s personality but he wasn’t offering everything I wanted. I had asked him to keep my date on hold and to let me know when someone else was interested on my date. He did have someone interested and I told him I had found a package who fit all my needs from another photographer. He was very understanding and thankful I let him know and avoiding loosing a potential customer.

PS I sent you a PM ๐Ÿ™‚
