The choice is between Zara and Chiara!
About a month ago, I posted about a whole group of names that I was trying to choose for twin girls, and narrowed it down to three. Two of the names sound very similar, and I wouldn’t choose them both for that reason, but my husband and I can’t seem to choose which we like more. Initially, we preferred Zara and overtime we started to also like Chiara (also can be spelled Kiara). We don’t want to ask people we know, as we’re worried that some of our family and friends may be too forceful with opinions. I’m going to hold off on the 2nd name we decided on for a bit- I just want to see through the poll which name is preferred without too much background info if that’s okay! I’ll update later if anyone is interested. 🙂

I’m really not a fan of the spelling of Chiara – at first I thought you were pronouncing it Ch-ee-ara. I’d spell it Kiara if you really like it better than Zara.

I prefer Zara, second choice Kiara. I don’t like the spelling of Chiara at all personally. I think you’d get a lot of people saying ch-ee-ara like pp said.

I like them both but would spell it Kiara to avoid the Ch as in cheese/chee-ara pronunciation. Also, I feel like I need the other twin’s name to settle between Zara or Kiara for their sib-set. 🙂

I’m voting Zara because of the My Dad Wrote a Porno reference to Chiara. I probably never could have taken that name seriously to begin with but I definitely can’t anymore!
It’s likely that no US bees will have a clue what i’m talking about.
Is it supposed to be pronounced Chee-ara? Or Keer-a? If it is the latter I have always known it to be spelt Ciara.

Definitely like Zara better – much more straightforward for the person she is going to be to spell and have pronounced! Chiara sounds a bit like one of those made up ‘you-nique’ names.

If you go with Chiara I would suggest spelling it Kiara. I have a chiari malformation which is a tiny brain malformation at the base of the skull. Not a common condition but for some that name with the spelling is basically equal to brain malformation!

How is Chiara supposed to be pronounced? Because the ONLY way I could see pronouncing it is CHEE-ARA. And I’m not a fan of that personally. Kiara I would assume is KEY-ARA?
I like the name Ciara…

I think you are missing a poll option of neither. I am not a fan of either name.

nch000 : Agreed on the spelling of Chiara bc it instantly reminded me of Chiari.
OP: I think we need to know the other twin name to really decide. But otherwise, Zara.

Chiara is an Italian last name on my dad’s side of my family and is pronounced with a ch like chess, like others have said. I still like Zara better than Kiara

I voted Zara because a) I think it is different but also easy and cute and b) because I know a girl who has Chiari Malformation and Chiara just makes me think of that every time I see it

I prefer Zara. Kiara, isn’t bad, but I wouldn’t use the Chiara spelling.

zzar45 : I’m a US bee who knows exactly what you’re talking about. At least she’s not considering the name Belinda!
OP, I pretty much agree with the consensus. Chiara will be mispronounced all her life, so I think you should go with either Zara or spell it Kiara.
