- Wedding: March 2011
We are having an “at home” reception at a friend’s place on the 23rd. She has told me I can decorate however I’d like but when I envisioned decorating, I always imagined a blank canvas… like a rental hall or park pavilion.
I really cannot comprehend what to do with a friend’s living room that is already full of her personal stuff.
I mean it’s not cluttered or anything, but it is a typical living room with couch, TV, stereo, coffee table.
The party will be at her house in general but this room is the largest so I figured if I put any decorating effort into this it would focus on this room… vs. the other areas people might hang out (front small famly room, kitchen, dining).
The room in question is large, with a full bar. I think she has a ceiling fan. There’s one brick wall with a fireplace and some sort of marble like floor.
I don’t want to go nuts, can’t really for budget reasons.. but I do want it to look “wedding like”.
All I have at this point are some paper bag luminaries from the wedding that we used down the church aisle, the battery operated tea lights that go in them, and a couple of Mexican paper banners that are wedding related.
I always imagined white lights somehow but not sure how I can do that in her lving room. Maybe along the top of her back door curtain rod? Or fireplace mantel? Or..??
I just keep coming up empty. Any cheap/simple/elegant ideas?
Sorry, wish I had pics to help!
