I didn’t have any trouble losing the weight after my c-section.  I was back in my pe-pregnancy clothes 3 weeks after having my baby. But I only gained 25 lbs. during the pregnancy, so that was a huge part of it.

I lost about 15lbs within 4 days after my csection. I’m still up about 15 but I fit in my pre pregnancy clothes. I was quite skinny before so now I have a little extra flub but I fit in my size 4 jeans. I am breastfeeding but my diet isn’t great and I’m not exercising lol

It really shouldn’t make a difference. It might take a bit longer for you to be able to exercise since you had surgery, but most people aren’t working out right after giving birth anyway lol.

I had about 25 pounds melt right off within weeks of my c section. My son is almost one and I am still up about 6 pounds from my pre-preg weight, but that had a lot more to do with not concentrating on myself and my health for a good chunk of time. A friend just had a baby two months ago vaginally and told me she is experiencing the exact same post partum weightloss I did. I really can’t imagine why it would make a difference other than being on an IV for several days and the temporary water weight from that.

Mrs. Meowerson :  I am 8 days post c-section and I’m down 22 pounds. 8 more to go and I’m at prepregnancy. not breastfeeding .  It probably depends more on your own body and your eating habits.

Mrs. Meowerson :  I had a c section and had a much harder time losing the weight than my friends who delivered vaginally. I think it was because I went from a very active lifestyle to zero activity for 10 weeks and then breastfeeding all day long (ie sitting in a chair) so my metabolism was shot. Even if you burn calories while breastfeeding, if your body is used to running a mile a minute all day, that weight is going to stay put (in my experience). My friends had a much less active life before.

I’ve got a pretty athletic build but I wasn’t in outstanding shape before or during my pregnancy. I was prepared for it to take a long time for all of the weight to come off but that ended up not being the case. I can’t remember the exact timing when it all came off, but I do recall selling our son’s bassinet when he was about 2 months old and the woman who bought it assumed I’d given birth a couple years prior rather than a couple months. That was when I realized that I was at or lower than my pre-pregnancy weight.

Mrs. Meowerson :  I’m 8 weeks post c section and I’m honestly having a very hard time losing the weight.  I think maybe I’ve already responded to one of your other threads but basically I gained around 37 lbs, and came home from the hospital only 3 lbs lighter than when I went in — and I had a 9 lb baby!  I was very swollen with water weight for about two weeks.  Once that went away, I expected the number on the scale to go way down but it has been very slow.  By around 6 weeks PP, I had only lost 17 lbs and have not lost another ounce in the two weeks since then.  So I have 20 more to go.  I have been walking a ton and started pilates this week. I’ve been eating ok but am now really cutting back because I am desperate to lose this weight.  I am not BFing anymore but I exclusively pumped for about 5 weeks.  Sorry to be a downer but just want to prepare you for the worst because I totally expected to lose 25 lbs immediately based on what I read, and I wish I had been more mentally prepared.

And to answer your original question, most of my friends/acquaintances who had vaginal births did indeed lose weight quicker than c section ladies

Majority of the weight was gone within two weeks. After a month I was skinnier than before (not the plan). Didn’t get the chance to breastfeed since milk never came so that wasn’t a contributor. But all I ate for 9 months was rice, fruit and milk bc thats all my child would tolerate. Still managed to gain 35 lbs. 😨 Everyone is different though.
