We ended up getting our floors from Lumber Liquidators.  It is an engineered hardwood and we have been really happy with it.  

Here is another interesting thread/poll that I created.  

The biggest extra expense in budget for us was the $0.50 extra per sq ft for the underlayment since it didn’t come attached to our floor.  It was SUPER easy to lay down (it comes in rolls and you connect the seams with duct tape).  We had to buy a couple bottles of glue for like $6 per bottle.  We used like a bottle per 100 sq ft or so.  Also, we ended up replacing our baseboards which was totally worth it but again another extra expense.
