annainnyc :  I am in the same situation but am not able to get to New York to check them out in person! Would you say I can trust the LaurenB brand that they would give me a gem that doesn’t look great? I really don’t want to go through the hassle of ordering from mymoissanite and then sending it in!

Hi Ladies,

Those of you who have seen the Harro gem live in person, would you say it has enough sparkle to it?

I’ve been seriously considering going with the Harro (since they offer custom sizes) but I’m pretty worried that it won’t be sparkly enough.   I actually like the super rainbow look that Charles & Colvard has and am just wondering if Harro is as dull / non-rainbow as it seems or if it’s simply because I’ve seen it compared to C&C which is super rainbow in color if that’s just making the Harro look way less sparkly than it truly is.

Could really use some insight / help 😕

I’m not sure anyone every found moissanite not sparkly enough. The difference between the various brands is how they cut them (the actual pattern of facets). The cut of all of them with the most fire is going to be a round, simply due to optics. But, if you start a thread with the shape you desire, the Bees can direct you to their preferred ones. Different branded stones favor different shapes.

For Ovals, I prefer the Harro.

I’ve also been looking at the Harro- specifically because they offer the crushed ice cut in a cushion, which I haven’t seen anywhere else.

Hi Bees!

I want to keep this post going because I think it’s important and relevant for any other Bees trying to sort out the Moissanite thing. I recently ordered a custom ring from Tresors du Jour based in Vancouver; they can get any size/shapre Harro gem you like. They are still making my ring setting, but here are the pics of my center stone. It’s a 7x7mm / 1.9 carat equivalent asscher cut

I undertook about 6+ months of research on Moissanite before I decided to go with a Harro Gem. I was also concerned about the lack of reviews or information/videos online about Harro Gems but in the end it seems all the jewelers agree that Amora Gem and Harro Gem are the best quality Moissante on the market today IF you want a warmer diamond-like appearance in your stone. Amora Gem has an extremely small selection and you cannot customize, while Harro is more widely available (albeit much less so than C&C, or Neo) and you can order directly from them in any custom size/cut that you like; their offering of standard cuts and sizes is also quite a bit larger than Amora. I did order a C&C emerald cut 2.75 CWE ring from Brilliant Earth so I could see the C&C stone in person and while I think it’s quite beautiful, I did not like the rainbow flashes that came off the step cut and the stone looked too cold (almost grey) in a yellow gold setting for my taste, so I returned it. Anyway, I will post pics of the setting when it’s finshed and then the ring when I get it!

As to that pervasive question about will I fake it or tell people that my stone is a Moissanite – I will happily tell anyone that my stone is a Moissanite and explain what it is & how cool it is

Happy to answer any questions from Bees on different kinds of Moissanite and Moissanite vs. Diamond vs. colored stones etc.

gamechanger :  Do you have any pics of the stone in your setting? How does the harro asscher perform in different lights compared to a diamond? I’m looking to purchace the same stone and am not a fan of rainbow flashes either. I would like the most ‘diamond’ looking apperance possible as I find it more appealing while unfortunately my bank balance does not! 🙂

Here is a picture of my harro OEC in it’s setting. It is really gorgeous and I have to say I have not noticed a lot of rainbow flashes–mostly white flashes with a bit of rainbow here and there. That said, I have only been officially engaged for 2 days and it has not been all that sunny out. 🙂IMG_1600

I know this thread is 10 months old, btu just wanted to say THANK YOU for the info and pics!

I’m having a hard time trying to decide between C&C hearts and arrows or harro gem for a 7 mm round. Like you, I am leaning toward C&C for reputation but my fear is the rainbow sparkles…I want WHITE flashes. How do you find its performance in different lighting conditions? Help me decide lol.

Price is irrelevant, we will pay whatever it costs for the best non-diamond stone.

Were you able to find any other videos comparing the two? I am not having any luck on youtube.

Are you still happy with your choice? Thanks again:)

Keeping this thread going. I just bought a Harro gem after comparing in person to a NEO, C&C and natural diamonds. Harro was the most clear, and had the most depth which was much more similar to a diamond and it is not as firey as a C&C. In fact, directly comparing an E cut natural diamond to the Harro, they looked exactly the same except the Harro had more fire. The jeweler let me take the Harro outside (and away from the jewelry store lighting that makes everything flash) and I was in love. In my opinion the NEO is too paper white and looks flat, and is without any depth in most indoor lighting. In the end I think you really need to see these in person to make a decision. I bought a loose NEO stone and took it to Lauren B so I could compare to the C&C and Harro.
