Are there things you could put on the seating cards, or aspects you could put into the centerpieces? I love that you had picked Gryffindor colors without even realizing it 🙂

What’s your theme? We had a British pub/ tea party/ cat theme…

If you have something similar then I could help you more.

For example, do you have an outdoor space at your wedding reception? If so, have you considered having lawn games/ outdoor entertainment such as giant chess/ wizard chess?

What about a quote in a program or something like it. Or maybe a harry potter themed drink?

Call a signature drink a “love potion”

Incorporate a locket into your attire or maybe your bridesmaids

Instead of table numbers, do names and sneak in HP references like a lightening bolt, alley (diagon of course), a lion, or use stripes like the gryfinndor scarves on details like place cards or menus.

Maybe us a graphic of sparks, like wand sparks?

You could have some serious fun coming up with ideas!

Without getting too theme-y:

–Instead of a regular pen, use a feathered-quill pen for the guest book.

–Add a few subtle lion touches in your decor

–if you’re having a garter, add a charm related to the house.

–Jelly Belly jelly beans as favors, with Bertie Botts labels/flavors

–If you might have a signature drink, give it a name related to the book.

A few quick searches found:

@Mata_Hari:   When it comes to food, there is an absolute plethora of options. Everything from British fare such as shepard’s pie to items like chocolate molded into frog shapes, drinks labelled “butterbeer,” “Amorentia” (or whatever the love potion name was), and Firewhiskey. I have an entire list of all of the foods listed in the books (up to book five, I believe). Maybe a candy buffet with candy based on the books?

Apart from food, you could also do a Great Hall-esque set up with a head table and four long tables perpendicular. Decorate with fairies and stuff (think Yule Ball, Christmasy colors). Offer Harry Potter-themed favors. Incorporate animals like owls, lions, and mythological creatures into the decor. I’m trying to think of some other options… generally when I imagine the Potter world I think of lots of wood (wands), natural elements (Hogwarts has vast and wonderful grounds that include a lake, greenhouses, pumpkin patch, and a forest. Incorporate lots of greenery, moss, and water), and stone (Hogwarts is a castle, afterall). Maybe use old tapestries (how many passageways were behind tapestries) and statues.

I’m not sure what your budget is or how feasible some of my ideas were but I just kind of tossed ideas out. Hopefully you can tell I am a huuuuge Harry Potter fan! Your wedding sounds like a dream come true to me!!!

Ooh! Neat! I’m a big Potter fan myself. I think these would be subtle enough:

-an “Always” theme, i.e., have “Always” written on the programs, the invites, ect. (I mean, it’s sort of sad and unrequited, but the seniment was beautiful)

-add some white “Hedwig” feathers to your flowers or your headpiece.

-long, candle filled tables for reception seating

-a stag and doe cake topper

-for sure use sparklers for your exit! I don’t know if you have them available, but there are the color changing ones I’ve seen around here. It would look like a bunch of different spells! =)

Hey there! I got an email notification about your PM, but when I got on here and logged in after 10 months, the actual PM isn’t showing up for me! 🙁

Anyway, we ended up doing our wedding pretty last minute and rushed because Darling Husband was heading off to boot camp right afterward (and I decided at the last minute I didn’t feel like planning a wedding around the military). But we still found ways to incorporate HP!

-made origami flowers for the bouquets out of a tattered old copy of Order of the Phoenix (I had 3 copies, no worries).

-walked down the aisle to “Fawkes is Reborn” from the Chamber of Secrets soundtrack.

-played instrumental HP music during dinner (along with some other stuff; I was a major band geek back in the day).

– used lots of candles as the centerpieces instead of using flowers (much cheaper that way, too!)

-had 4 long tables down the middle of the room, with the bridal table at the head.

Things we PLANNED on doing but didn’t have time/money for:

-hanging candles from the ceiling in secured glass orbs (this was something provided by a venue we were looking at).

-using a color scheme from one of the houses (I ended up going with black and silver because it was New Year’s Eve and I just let my girls pick their own LBD).

-Work a Harry Potter reference into our ceremony- using “Always” as a part of your vows, or something (we couldn’t figure out how to best do this!)

– sneak in some fonts from the books in your invitations and programs- not necessarily the one from the cover, but the chapter titles in the American books with the stars on the corners of the page. Or Dumbledore’s handwriting- it’s really loopy and cool (I have a HP quote tattoo with this font. No shame).

I’m sure there are more things, if I think of any I’ll let you know! Also, I think you said you were from the YO OH too? Are you gettng married there? And if so what’s your venue? That might help spark some ideas if you posted a picture of the place so people can see what you’re working with!

Oooooh…Harry Potter themed candy bar?

Or Harry Potter table names?

Drippy candle centerpieces (if your venue allows this):

I know you said nothing too over the top, but these cakes are too awesome not to post… Hedwig or Hogwartz grooms cake (or wedding cake):
