This seems so silly, but I’m worried about the gel cups my seamstress sews into dresses and being able to fly with it. Gel shoe inserts are banned and must be checked in on a plane and gel cups are quite similar. I read a few articles that say gel bras are banned, but I have no idea how legit they are. I’m thinking about going to another seamstress who does regular padded cups because I can’t risk not being able to take my dress to my destination wedding. Does anyone have experience with this?

Give TSA a call and ask them about your specific situation. I’ve had to do that for some of my medical liquids because I didn’t want them denied at security.

i would give them a call for peace of mind. as you dont want the dress to show up with something strange at xray and them being very suspicious of it

Can you put it in your checked bag? Alot of things you can’t carryon are able to be checked. [For instance, full size perfumes, lotions, razors, shampooos/conditioners]. I put anything I was unsure of in my checked bag.

I would just put in padded cups so you don’t have to worry about it.

My husband has not put his liquids into a baggie in 2 years, and regularly flies with a full size shaving cream canister in his carry on. Hasn’t been stopped once. I don’t think this is something you should worry so much about. I know I am the “rule follower” and always put my stuff in a baggie, but he’s been on 70+ flights in 2 years and not been stopped. I think you’ll be fine!

I would call TSA just for peace of mind, but by the sounds of PP’s statements you should be just fine.

Most of my bras have a gel insert and I’ve never had a problem whether they’re on me, in a carry on, or checked.

I’ve flown with the gel inserts in my shoes and it’s never been an issue.
I’ve also gone through security with my liquids in the bag that went through the machine (forgot to take it out) and they never said anything.
I think that they are becoming more lenient with this rule and I gaurantee there are tons of women that go through with gel inserts in their bras with no problem.

I would call to find out..it would be a nightmare if you couldnt bring your dress to your own wedding because of this!

You can also request a pat down instead of going through the x-ray machine. You should be fine either way.

i’ve flown with all sorts of bra’s and never had an issue.

i was assuming she meant the wedding dress that she would be carrying? actually im not sure now, maybe she means to wear a gel bra rather than talking about carrying a wedding dress with gel insertions

It is my wedding dress I’m talking about. I’ve tried calling TSA, but wasn’t able to speak with a real person. I’m going to my first alterations appointment now, I’m nervous!
