First off…congrats!!

I haven’t, but my cousin has.  She was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease when she was 15.  She went through chemo and radiation treatments until she went into remission when she was 18.  They told her because of all the chemo and radiation she’d never get pregnant so she never bothered to use protection with her boyfriend and got pregnant at 19 and had a healthy baby girl.

Then, a few years later when she was pregnant with her son, she had to go to her cancer doctor for her routine screening.  She told him she was pregnant and he told her she was mistaken, that there was no way she could be pregnant.  She had to show him pictures of her daughter to prove to him that she could, in fact, get pregnant!

My doctor did a blood test on day 21 of my cycle to see if I was ovulating, called me and said my progesterone was low, I didn’t ovulate that month and to keep trying for 3 months and then we’d investigate other options. I argued and said well since I didn’t ovulate until day 20 (using a clearblue easy fertility monitor) the nurse said no that doesn’t matter there’s a 3 day window for error. I said um excuse me we’re talking 7 days here, I want you to redo the test. So the doctor called back, set up another test for day 27, called me April 1 to tell me I was right, I ovulated and I got my BFP the next day. I really spent the whole month of March thinking I wasn’t going to be able to conceive that month, I put off taking the test for days thinking I was just wasting it!!!

Yup, I had pre-cancerous cells on my cervix that typically go away, I was told I had a 95% chance if it was still there in May (2 yr mark and getting worse.)  I would have Cervical Cancer and they would have to remove it causing scar tissue, we weren’t to start until a yr after clear paps and post-surgery which might have been 2-3 years away plus the scar tissue could make it carry and of course the cells could come back.  I got my first clear pap in March and am 5 weeks+2 days 🙂  I have a pap sceduled for 3 weeks and if the pre-c are still there everything will be fine and after I give birth they can take them off without any issues.

@brid32bee:  Congrats!  Motherhood is an amazing thing.  I was told at 16 that I probably wouldn’t ever be able to have children.  I had cancer (agressive cancer that was terminal) and underwent a year of an agressive chemo.  The doctors told me because of how old I was, the type of chemo I was getting etc that most of my eggs would be “killed” and I would probably not conceive.  I had my oldest son at 21, and at 24 I had twins.  So apparently I had more than enough eggs to spare that the chemo did not get all of them Smile.
