I haven’t — I think the big thing would be looking into the return policy. You don’t want to buy a sales-final dress online. If you can, call and talk to a customer service rep about the procedure for receiving a dress and what happens if you need to return it. Also, I would get measured so you can try to get a closer size when you order the first time. Wedding dress sizes are not necessarily in line with “street” sizes.

Good luck!

I actually did just buy one from a Chinese seller, and it came in a couple of weeks ago. It looks pretty awesome! Of course it’s not 100% to the picture, but it’s pretty close. I will need to get some alterations because I ordered a slightly bigger size just in case, but the dress itself only cost $159. With alterations, it will be $460 total, but still that’s not bad considering how much dresses normally cost! I definitely recommend it. I went with jeffliu8800 on ebay if you’re interested. ๐Ÿ™‚

finally have my pics… these are before alterations so it doesn’t fit perfectly yet. But hope this helps with your decision a little!

And from my experience, Jeffliu was very easy to work with. Very responsive via email. I am actually ordering my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses from him too!

Try VOWS in Watertown, MA.  They have a great online and return policy.  But read the fine print because not all dresses are returnable.  It might be best to confirm your wish-order with someone at the store before hitting the ‘send’ button.  And, read the website carefully because I think you can exchange but you can’t get your money back if you return.  I’m not sure exactly.  So check.  Once I got my gown I forgot all these details and specifics.

Also, [don’t scream, please] Target.  They have a great wedding site [well, I think so anyway] with some nice selection for the right type of body.  Easy, easy, return policy.  You go to the closet Target and return it.   Easy.   Easy.

Also try Nordstrom’s.  They don’t sell wedding gowns per se, but they sell white dresses and could be used for a wedding gown.

Best of luck!

if you are nervous about the idea of using some of those sites that may be replicas, etc… what i’d recommend is that you join a few invite-only sites and get yourself on a few mailing lists.  I got my wedding dress from Bluefly.com for around $350, whereas that same dress would sell for $900 something at a bridal shop.  I’m a member of RueLaLa, and recently I’ve seen Nicole Millers on there at a HUGE discount.  Sites like those run sales periodically, so it’s a gamble.  But if they’re coming from a site like that, you know they’re coming straight from the manufacturer, and not someone’s parents’ basement.  PM me if you’d like an invite to RueLaLa.  There are a few others I’m not a member of – Gilt is one of them that i know of.  GOod luck!  Cheap dresses are out there for the thrifty and creative bride ๐Ÿ˜€

@SandAareEngaged: Sorry I haven’t checked this site in awhile! Have been busy. Yes, the dress is taffeta. He was originally going to make it out of satin, but I really wanted it tafetta like the original, so he did.

And I just went for my second dress fitting today with the seamstress, it looks awesome!! I’m so excited. ๐Ÿ™‚
