Dakota2:  I’m anxiously awaiting replies too! We want to get married on the beach in Oregon, and I’m curious what other bees have done with planned elopements.

We were going to elope to Bora Bora since we don’t really have living family but now we are having a small wedding in Hawaii for 12 guest. I’m in Georgia so I’m in the same boat as you. We are going to rent a big house for all of us to stay in for the week. I don’t plan on getting a planner. I plan on doing some of the stuff when we get there like marriage license and stuff, but for the most part I will do it all before, without meeting any vendors. We had our engagement pics done there, so if I don’t find another photographer, I could always use the one that did those.

Have you ever been to Hawaii? Which island do you plan on getting married on?

We’ve been to Oahu twice (where we got engaged) so we had an idea of locations. We are getting married on Makapu’u Beach.

My dress is a full on wedding gown, so completely opposite of this picture, but that’s my inspiration.

We’ve been engaged since August, but we are getting married next May 19 so we are almost exactly a year out. Time for me to get serious now.

We are doing the same thing but in Mexico and not until April 2016. Most resorts also have wedding/elopement packages so that’s one way to do it. They do tend to be a little pricy but the set-up/flowers/cake/officiant is done for you. We found an officiant who will do the ceremony anywhere you want (sometimes there is a site fee if it’s non-public property) and she provides a bouquet of flowers and does the ceremony for $350. There is no set up (that costs more!) so it will be much like the picture that ksn1219 posted. We decided on location mostly based on pictures on the photographer’s webiste but we had also been there before. We hired a photographer to shoot the ceremony and also do a “photo tour” with us around the island earlier that day. If you’re looking for beach setups, go to pinterest and search for “hawaii beach weddings elopements” and lots of ideas will come up. Also search for wedding photographers in Hawaii and look at their galleries. You can really make it as elaborate or as simple as you want.

Dakota2:  So does he have any particular sites in mind he would want? I’m pretty sure it’s the same on all the islands, but I know that we will have to get a permit which is like $50 and then whatever officiant we go with. Some places have elopment packages as well.
