I looked at them in Barnes and noble before I was engaged. Grab a coffee and look it over in the store, that way there is no chance your SO will find it. All that info can be found online anyway, there is no reason to buy one unless you are actively planning a wedding :/

@Alaric2012:  I finally joined Pinterest, and I have a wedding board on there… the name of my board is “it’s a secret I’m crazy” because I feel totally crazy for having a wedding board before I’m engaged… but I want to remember all the good ideas I have!!!!

Also, I’m doing the SIUP and I try not to mention anything about weddings/getting married to my boyfriend… but if he occaisonally walks by my computer and sees wedding dresses or whatever, then at least he knows I’m still thinking about it, but I’m not nagging/putting pressure on. I think it’s a win/win!

@Alaric2012:  I actually bought one with the full knowledge of my SO. I’ve written down some of the ideas we had, and then put it away. It’s been nice, to keep track of those things we’ve discussed and I don’t want to forget.

I didn’t buy any books, but I openely pinned things on Pinterest. He followed my Pinterest boards and saw anything I pinned, I didn’t have a secret board for it (mostly because I started it before they existed). And this was well before we were engaged, like, maybe a year

For some reason having anything wedding related in real life is where I draw my line. Pinterest, yea I’m all over that. Style Me Pretty, Practical Wedding, Offbeat Bride, yes, yes and yes more please. But anything with pages and I start to feel a little crazy*

*Not saying that pre engaged ladied with wedding mags/books are cray cray, just that in my situation/relationship/environment I would feel like was doing something strange and sketchy by owning/hiding physical stuff like that.

@Alaric2012:  Thank you for asking this question.  I keep wanting to get a planner, because I keep having all of these awesome ideas that I don’t want to forget, but really think my SO wouldn’t be to understanding. I’ve been interested to know what everyone around here thought as well.

SOOOO….I have to settle for an excel document and an VERY large wedding Pinterest Board entitled “For when he finally proposes”  which is a private board.  It will be a happy day when I can change the name of that board to “I’m Engaged!!!”  I think that same day I will be proudly purchasing a planner from B&N too!

Funny Wedding/Engagement Ecard: Oh you know, just planning for my non-existent wedding...

I also started a Pintrest board called “Wishful Thinking” after a close friend started hers called “I’ll get married someday” ….it’s so much fun!

I have three secret wedding boards on Pinterest because I am ashamed of openly pinning… I know all the rest of my not engaged (or even in relationships!) friends have boards, but I feel like the volume of wedding-related pins would terrify people. I also started a wedding binder to help organize some of the crazy research I was doing… But my SO knows about all of this. He even designed the cover for my wedding binder for me in photoshop! I think we are both waiting, in our different ways; he is more content with waiting, but he thinks it’s sweet that I think about these things now while we are waiting to get our careers and finances in order. Also, I work at a bridal boutique that also sets up meetings between clients and various vendors, produces a wedding Expo, deals with rentals, etc… so he’d have a major issue if me thinking about different aspects of wedding planning made him nervous! I haven’t added much to the binder, but it’s nice to know that when I do have a really good thought, or hear about a vendor at work that I really want to remember, I have somewhere to put the information. Honestly, I think it’s made me way *less* wedding crazy since I started it. I can type something up, print it out, stick it in the binder, and forget about it rather than obsessing and feeling like all of my good ideas are wasted!
