Hello my beautiful Chicago brides!
I am having my reception at the Doubletree in Oak Brook (across from the mall on Spring Road). Has anyone attended a reception or event there? I know it used to be a Hyatt Regency about 4 or 5 years ago.
I’d love any information you have!

i have not been to a reception there, however i have to have my room block there. the hyatt lodge needs all of our rooms for the BMW championship for the PGA so they have arragned for us to stay there. the hotel looks nice. pretty standard, they did major renovations so it should be nice..

My high school friend had her reception at the Oak Brook Doubletree in July and it was lovely. The hotel decorated her ballroom with these beautiful twinkly lights in the ceiling, and created a very dramatic backdrop behind the head table with draped white fabric. The decor really elevated the space above the typically anonymous hotel ballroom you often see at weddings.
I will say that it was a tiny bit difficult to find the ballroom when I first entered the hotel, but once I found the cocktail area it felt very intimate. I didn’t run into any other wedding parties or events there.

I haven’t been to a wedding but I have attended a formal dinner there. Service seemed very helpful and friendly and the event went off without a hitch. Food was decent and I heard that it was very affordable, as well, to host the event there.

@ hellopanda: I am so happy to hear that! I have also heard that people have had problems finding the ballroom since it is set apart from the rest of the hotel, so that’s helpful to know so I can post something on our website about it.
I hate to admit it, but a major reason why I booked there was because of the twinkling lights. I felt that it was so different than the "normal" hotel ballroom and we wanted to book a hotel so people didn’t have to worry about driving home, etc.
I’ll have to find out if that draped fabric is standard with any reception!
Thanks, everyone, for taking the time to comment. I haven’t been able to come across anyone who had attended a reception there, so I’m glad to know the details!
