I have, though not for a honeymoon, just for a week as a student. Is there anything in particular you’d like to know? I loved it, just not sure where to start.

I have been to Barcelona, Madrid, Athens, and Santorini. I would take Athens and/or Santorini over Barcelona ANY day. It was nice, but we couldn’t go to the beaches (maybe that was it) and it was just huge and kinda grimy. It’s supposed to be great for partying and clubbing, so if you’re into that then go for it.

Santorini is beautiful. It was one of my favorite places I have ever been to. And SO romantic. I  couldn’t recommend it any higher, I LOVED it.

We went to Barcelona after we graduated college! You should definitely go on a Gaudi tour of the city!

I went to Barceona but only for a couple days.  Also been to Athens (which I don’t really recommend, except to swing by and see the Acropolis, otherwise it’s just kind of another big dirty city) and Mykonos.  Greek islands definitely have the edge as to honeymoon sexiness if you just want to laze around.  Barcelona is fairly busy and we felt more pressured to go see all the historical stuff, and to me… Spanish food was meh, compared to amazing Greek food.

Yes, I’ve been to both Barcelona and all over Spain, and I’d say it depends on what you like to do!!

In Barcelona, the food is great if you are open-minded – the main food there is tapas, where you go from one tapas restaurant to the next and order basically really small dishes. If you like trying new food then it’s the place to go – Greek food is much more uniform, although it is delicious. Also, if you are more into touristy activities than laying on the beach, Barcelona is perfect – there is a famous Picasso museum and that is amazing, plus all of Gaudi’s famous architecture (especially the Park Guell!). Since you’re from Texas too, I’ll tell you that in Barcelona you will feel worlddsss away from Texas. It’s a medieval city, and in the older parts of the city there are really narrow alleyways and buildings with gargoyles and lots of really cool hole-in-the-wall places. I’d say it’s more the place to get lost on adventures if you want to be on your feet. You can still go to the beach though, it’s not quite as nice as Greece but def better than Galveston or any of the Gulf Coast beaches ๐Ÿ™‚ I would disagree with the PP who said it’s mostly for clubbing – I’m not big on clubbing and I still had a great time, there are lots of really unique things to do there.

Greece is a better place to relax. Well, the islands are – Athens is just as intense as Barcelona and not as beautiful/scenic. The beaches are absolutely beautiful, the people are super friendly, the food is great, etc. If you go to a Greek island you must rent a vespa – it’s the best way to get around ๐Ÿ™‚ The only downside to Greece is the ferries to get to the islands take awhile, so if you only have a couple days you need to plan accordingly. If that’s the case, you can always go to the less-famous islands that are closer to Athens, like Aegina. But if you have time you should go to Santorini or do a tour of a few islands – sooo worth it. And the ferry ride – if you do it during the daytime – is incredible.
