So I sent in my design specifications for a custom ring and paid the CAD fee a few days ago and have been obsessively checking my email for updates. Just for my own sanity,  how long did it take everyone else to get there first rendering of the Rings they designed?

thatguy1234:  typically it’s about a week unless the design is really complicated, and then it might take a day or two longer.

michaelc:  Unrelated but I figured I’d ask. Can previous moissy owners do a sort of upgrade to the F1 stones and “trade in” thiers?

MeandMyLouboutins:  I read on a different thread that they are not doing “trade-ins” for F1 upgrades at the moment. You just have to buy a whole new stone.

MeandMyLouboutins:  If you purchased the stone from our company, please send us an email.  Although we have not developed a program, I am open to at least exploring the idea for our  customers.

Forgive me, this will be a bit lengthy. But I wanted to share my experience because up until a few weeks ago, I was scouring the internet trying to decide which jeweler to trust for such an important purchase, and I knew no matter which way it went for me, I wanted to put my experience out there for other brides-to-be to see.

I purchased from MoissCo recently and it was a great experience! How I wound up there is a long story. Fiance and I didn’t do much research prior to discussing getting engaged, and we (unknowingly) wound up with a ring that was costume jewelry. After a couple months of wear, the gold plating flaked off and the center stone fell out.  I started researching all things e-rings and now know more than I ever thought I would about metals, settings, center stones, etc.

I had my “dream ring” in mind… 7.5+mm cushion cut moissanite center stone, set in a split shank halo setting. I looked both locally and online, and MoissaniteCo had (hands down) the best prices. So I started researching MoissaniteCo, reading reviews and the like. Its actually how I stumbled across this site. I saw some pretty nasty reviews and some horrible interaction between the MoissaniteCo staff and their disgruntled customers and that really turned me off to them. As someone who works for a Fortune 100 company, I couldn’t fathom how they could react and respond to their customers in the manner they have online. I had actually decided against them because of that and was going to suck it up and pay the inflated cost to get a Brilliant Earth setting with a moissanite center stone. But I just couldn’t justify spending that much on a ring. I did more research, nearly drove myself mad with the stress of it all, and finally opted to give MoissaniteCo a try.

I made sure to read up on their return policy, and even emailed them and asked questions to be sure I read it correctly. Making such a big purchase online is scary, especially without being able to see the setting in person at all. I knew the stone would be fine, but its difficult to tell how settings would look in person versus those zoomed-in stock images that you see online. My customer service with MoissaniteCo has been nothing but pleasant. They answered all my questions and even guided me towards some “real life” pics they found online of another customer who ordered the same setting I was interested in, so I could see some non-stock images of the ring. That was enough to convince me to give it a shot. If I didn’t like it, I could return it. If I did like it, I would be saving myself thousands of dollars.

I ordered my ring on 2/24/16 and was told it would take 10 business days to produce and ship. I paid for the overnight shipping because after spending that much money, having to wait on production and shipping is TORTURE!!!  I wasn’t expecting it to ship until today (3/9/16), but it actually shipped on 3/4/16 and arrived 3/7/16 (overnight delivery doesn’t include weekends, apparently). So I received the ring 3 days sooner than expected AND the day it arrived was actually the 1 year anniversary since my Fiance proposed. So… perfect timing.

The ring is stunning. I wanted a larger center stone, but anything larger than 7.5mm would’ve been a custom order and voided the return policy, so I stuck with 7.5mm. I’m hoping years down the road I can upgrade to a larger F1 center stone. I went with FB because I’ve had classic moissy jewelry previously, and it was beautiful, so I knew I’d love the FB stones too. Indoors it is colorless. In the sun I can tell there’s a slight warmth to the stone, but unless you’re looking for it- you wouldn’t notice. It sparkles like crazy in the sunlight. I’ve tried capturing images of it with my DSLR camera, but the photos do it no justice. The setting and center stone are both absolutely perfect. They also have a loyalty/rewards program that I didn’t know about until I ordered with them. Thanks to my e-ring purchase, I have a good $78ish credit with them that I will likely put towards my wedding band purchase, when the time comes.

So if you’re hesitant to order from them, read up on their return policy and make sure whatever you’re ordering is covered by it. Ask them questions if you have any. Once you do that, there’s no reason to not give them a shot and possibly save yourself so much money.

Terrible company. Stones have the durability of gravel. Had my wife’s stones replaced twice and would have been a third but was just foolishness at that point. Their suggested cost to replace? $25/stone so really goes to show how the value of what they’re selling.

Another dreadful experience with Moissaniteco.com here!

Company mis-shipped our 2.5K ring to Canada and tried to claim it was a cheap imitation ring…which of course got flagged and held at customs.  An absolute gong show, going back and forth to broker, FedEx, Moissaniteco.com and Canadian Customs. In true sterotypical style, the only actual genuine assistance has been from Cdn Customs….

We have wasted hours and hours and still have no ring, nor any postive sign of solution.

Moissaniteco.com has provided nothing in the way of assistance, even though, after much going back and forth, we now have the documentation they sent the ring under and how they declared it. Which, in a nutshell, messed everything up.

So, now we are stuck. Useless conversations with their robotic like online assistant, unanswered and/or unfruitful conversations with their customer service department, NO SOLUTIONS (of any sort…eg. how to ship, how to refund, how to re-broker…yes, we even offered to pay extra for that, although its non of the situation is due to our actions), etc etc.

This has been a horrid experience that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Maybe if you’re in the States, you get an ok product, but heave buyer beware warning for any Canadians considering buying from this company!

My fiance bought me a ring from Moissaniteco in December of 2014, and it’s had problems since day one. The stone had these weird oil slick looking stains that they suggested was leftover residue from some kind of setting glue they didn’t bother wiping off. They told us we could clean it off ourselves with a sunshine cloth. Thanks, guys.

The metal of the ring itself had a divot in it that clearly came from some kind of jeweler’s clamp, and the surface of the band that faces the bottom of the center stone has ridges in it- it looks like I would imagine it to look if it had been crudely “cut”. And recently I looked at it and realized the center stone has begun to chip. It’s ridiculous.

I asked Moissaniteco what they could do about these issues because the compounding of them has finally become intolerable to me, and they asked me to pay for shipping and an extra $25 to “resurface” something that was never surfaced right in the first place. They claimed to have quality control measures before shipping, but then why was it left with jeweler’s glue all over the stone, and why did it have divots from clamps? I’m not impressed in the least. As for the chips, they dismissed me and told me to contact Charles & Colvard. Yet, MoissaniteCo says directly on its webstie,

Moissanite has a different atomic structure than diamond which does not have a direction of cleavage (which sometimes is considered as a direction of structural weakness) like a diamond.

I am a full time returning college student who does practically nothing but sit around and read and write papers- there is no reason for any of those chips. That MoissaniteCo would rather pawn me off on the company that provides the stones MoissaniteCo boasts on its website is, to me, a method of giving me the runaround.

But that’s not the first problem I’ve had with MoissaniteCo. The man I dated a year prior to my fiance almost proposed to me on Christmas with a Moissaniteco ring- but didn’t end up doing so because Moissaniteco sent him the right ring in the wrong type of gold (he asked for white, they sent it in yellow). They messed up, but ultimately helped me dodge a bullet.

I have a few moissanite pieces I got years ago from a place that no longer exists called FromTheSky.com, and the ring I have is beautiful, and the purchase was easy and smooth. I had no issues with the stone or the ring. I miss that company.

I will probably never buy from Moissaniteco again. I love moissanite, but I don’t think they care much about their products based on my experiences with them. Buying from another retailer and spending an extra hundred bucks or so is probably the better option, and what we’ll likely do in the future.

Here is a picture of the divot. The upper surface of that portion of the band has the awful ridges on it. You can’t tell if you don’t look closely, but when you do, you realize it looks like someone welded it in his garage.

Hi, this is an old thread, but I’d like to add my two cents:

My fiance bought my ring from Moissaniteco.com, and I love it!  I have a beautiful, sparkly ring on my hand that he picked out for me, no one knows that it’s not a diamond, and to me, it represents where our priorities are.

So while I can’t comment on dealing with the company, since it was all my fiance, I can tell you that the ring is great!  We got engaged 8.5 months ago, I have not had my ring cleaned since then, and it still looks good:

Hi! It’s my first time posting on Weddingbee but I’ve been lurking around here for quite some time. I recently ordered and received my engagement ring from MoissaniteCo. The setting design is exactly what I expected it to be BUT unfortunately my ring arrived defected/faulty. One of the small side stones in the band is considerably  darker and dull compared to the others. And around the same area on the band another side stone is set uneven. I immediately contacted the chat support. Lets keep in mind that I’m from Australia so I had to stay up to 1am on a week night to wait for the chat to open. I spoke to Robyn from chat support. She told me to fill out the Return Authorisation from and wait for response. She couldn’t really help me with any questions I have in regards to the return and repair. That’s fine. So I filled out the form, asked them a few questions in regards to the shipping, and waited 29 hours for them to reply.

Their initial reply was an automated message with Shipping Tips, with no personal touch whatsoever. They didn’t reply to my shipping questions and didn’t sign off the email so I had no idea who I was talking to. At this point I got a bit frustrated. I emailed them back straightaway to get them to answer my questions from earlier. Luckily they replied back within 30 mins as it was just about closing time in the US and early morning here in AUS. The later emails from them were a lot better. More personal and they answered my questions. I still don’t know who I’m dealing with though but I am happy with the response I got in the end. I now have to send the ring back, get it repaired, and hopefully its perfect when I get it back. Initially I was very impressed with their service as they got the ring made and delivered within 8 days from USA to AUD! BUT I’m so disappointed it arrived faulty L

I’ve attached some photos of the defects below. First photo you can see the dark side stone. Second photo you can see that the same area is a bit uneven. It’s a rose gold setting so I cant get it refunded and my partner ripped off the tag before inspecting the ring. Men! Lol!

elisem1 :  I checked out their site and I’m underwhelmed by the total lack of description of the products on offer.

For example, the Emmie solitaire has this description: “The Emmie features shoulders stones and a peek-a-boo on the front and back profile” – what kind of stones? Moissy, diamond, CZ? It’s not clear. Also, what brand and cut of moissy? Round brilliant or H&A? C&C? Harro Gem?

There aren’t enough pictures of the products and there are no videos therefore you can’t see the ring from all angles.

I am Canadian and I would prefer to support a Canadian company but Honest Solitaire needs to step up their game. Try https://moissyfinejewellery.com/ instead – and for anyone in the GTA, they have a brick and mortar store and they carry pretty much every brand of moissy on the market!
