I wanted to buy some big faux-diamond stud earrings awhile back so I did a lot of research on simulants and ended up getting some enhanced loose moissanites from MCo. I think I paid about $5k for two 2.5 carat enhanced stones – pricey but better than the $90k I would have paid for real diamonds. When I took them to my jeweler to be set as earrings, he rated them G color, VVS1, Ideal cut (which is, incidentally, exactly what my e-ring diamond is rated).
Compared to my e-ring diamond, the moissy earrings are far more sparkly (as they should be, since moissanite has a higher brilliance rating and refracts light differently than diamonds) but do have a slight yellow tint when you look at them sideways that my diamond doesn’t have. Since you pretty much never see earrings sideways it’s never been a big deal to me, but in a ring it might be more of an issue. I get more compliments on my earrings than my ring, though.
Moissies aren’t cheap at all but they’re vastly preferably to CZs. CZs are a relatively soft so they absorb dirt and oil and get very cloudy over time. Hard to say if the expensive CZs (I think they’re called Ashas) hold up better, because they’re so new, but I wouldn’t do it.

here’s my new upgraded ring.. It’s a 1.5 round moissanite from moissaniteco.com. The band is diamonds. They were great to work with and I got 10% off since I bought a loose stone!

Lots of people have and I’ve heard nothing but good things! You should check out the better than diamonds forum for more information about moissanite and moissaniteco. Moissaniteco also has a great customer service chat on their website during business hours if you have any questions.
Moissanite does not change colors or fade over time.
Moissaniteco.com is the only place to offer “enhanced” moissanite. They use a combination of heat and pressure to whiten the stone a bit, so if you’re worried about the stone looking yellow, worry no more! You can see comparison pictures on the forums I linked to above comparing regular and enhanced moissanite. The honest truth is most people do not own a D-F (colorless) rated diamond anyway and own a “near colorless” stone (G-J) instead. Moissanites fall into the same category.
I will be getting an enhanced moissanite from moissaniteco for my engagement ring (a loose stone so it can be set into a custom setting). To me, they are the perfect gemstone: Colorless (so they match with everything) durable (more than sapphires and rubies and in some ways more so than even a diamond), SUPER sparkly (twice the fire of any diamond), all the heirloom value, all the diamond “prestige”, all the beauty, all the quality… for way less money.
I always wanted a diamond my whole life just… well cause, they’re diamonds! You need one when you get engaged, right? Well, I’m happy I’m not brainwashed anymore. Moissanite is literally better than diamonds in every way.
I wouldn’t get a CZ only because, imo, they really are just “fake diamonds”. A moissanite is not a fake diamond, it’s a gorgeous gemstone that should be admired for it’s unique beauty and fire.

I bought my e-ring from Moissaniteco.com last year and have been wearing it for over a year on a daily basis. I work in a lab and I can say my ring has withstood the test of time! I have banged my ring into hard surfaces a few times and nothing happened. The color of the stone did not fade, and my ring hasn’t chipped.
The folks at Moissaniteco.com are very friendly and helpful. I wasn’t happy with the color of the original stone and sent it back for replacement, which they did, free of charge. They also re-sized my ring for free (I had to sent it back within 30 days), and replaced the 4-prong with 6-prong setting, also for free. IMO I think the 6-prong setting offers better protection for the center stone.
If you are looking for a ring that will last you a long time, has lots of sparkle, and is much more affordable than a diamond ring, I would highly recommend moissanite. I am quite proud of my choice. Good luck!

even diamonds are not 100% indestructable. my e-ring is vintage. the diamond has tiny chips around the edge (but I only noticed it after scrutinizing it in bright light one day).
stones are best protected in bezel or channel settings. the area that is most likely to chip is the edge.

Here is my ring! I bought the stone (1.5ct enhanced moissy) from Moissanite & Co., but I got the setting from Excel Diamonds.

Where did you get your ring from and what is the metal? if you don’t mind me asking.

I know this is an old post, but I looked at it several times before ordering my ring from moissaniteco. Here is my review of it.

I got my ring from an Australian company called ‘Secrets-shhh’. The metal is 14k yellow gold, with 14k white gold prongs.
Here is the link to their website if you want to have a squiz. http://www.secrets-shhh.com/

Question for you guys,
Did you have your stones enhanced?

My e-ring came from moissaniteco.com – my Fiance is really not into the ethics of the diamond industry and ultimately we didn’t want to spend a bucketload of money that we didn’t have. And, I think it’s kinda cool that my ring is a space-rock. 😉
I chose the 1 ct. Tiffany Inspired Round Bezette Solitaire, I am at work and don’t have any pics (the ones I have tried to take have been blurry), but at the very least I’ll come back after I get some professional pics and update.
My only minor complaint is that because I hadn’t seen it in person prior to choosing it, I didn’t really realize how large 1 carat would look within the actual setting. I generally like really dainty jewelry and while I’ve gotten used to it, I might’ve chosed a smaller stone if I’d seen it in person. Also, it’s been challenging to find a wedding band that can be worn on the same finger as this particular ring without having something custom fitted. Personally, after the wedding I plan to wear my e-ring on my right hand and just wear my wedding band solo on the left side.
Otherwise, I really love it! It’s super sparkly and gorgeous! If anyone can tell it’s not a diamond, they haven’t said anything… I get lots of compliments on the setting and many people comment on how “me” it is.

No, it is not enhanced. I’m not really sure what enhancing would do to is, since it is super sparkly and vibrant as it is.
