@khaleeesi:  I would ask her for a copy of the receipt from when she bought it – that way you can confirm if the store is legit/reputable as well. Just a thought! 🙂

I bought mine there, and am selling my dress regret dress there. Both are genuine Maggie Sortteros. The one I bought came with its certificate of authenticity. I got a GREAT deal!

I got mine there and I’m very happy with it. I second asking for a copy of the reciept if you’re worried about it. I didn’t get one but the girl I bought the dress from was great with communication so I wasn’t as worried about it. My dress was unworn so it came with all the tags and everything so I wasn’t as concerned about the receipt since I had the order # from the store and everything.

@khaleeesi:  I’m not sure how the site could guarantee you wouldn’t get a fake – their are scammers on pretty much all websites!

But you were right to ask for more pics, specifically of the tag, certificate of authenticity and receipt.  Then as PP said you can make sure it’s legit by checking the store they bought it from.

@khaleeesi:

I had a great experience with Tradesy, back when they were Recycled Bride.  I was able to get this really quaint card holder for the welcome table at my ceremony as well as this amazing antique wedding veil for my something borrowed 🙂  Haven’t purchased from their new site tradesy.com, but I’m gonna try it soon.  Mama needs a new pair of shoes. Lol  Smile

@khaleeesi:  I just got my dress off of Tradesy.com too!  This amazing Vera Wang that I couldn’t have afforded otherwise and it’s GORGEOUS!  So excited to get my dream dress and thrilled that I can check this off of my ever growing to do list. 6 more months to go…

@khaleeesi:  Tradesy has FREE returns!  I know because I have Gap dress listed!  You can converse with the seller to ask if it’s real or a knock off.  The site cannot guarantee it’s real, only the seller’s word will say it’s real.  The site is just a vehicle for selling.

If they don’t have the receipt I would guess a photo of the tag is good enough.  Some gowns I got on eBay and had no official certificate for them.

I sold two gowns through RecycledBride.com.  If you use PayPal, they protect the buyer – don’t be scared!

I bought two dresses from the then-Recycled Bride (at different times–had dress regret!).  Both were authentic and exactly as described.  I would say that most listings seem to be perfectly authentic and honest, but as others have said, you can have scammers anywhere.  I would ask for lots of personal pictures and make sure the communication is good.  A good thing is that you can pay by Paypal now if the seller has elected to offer that option.  I believe Paypal will protect you to some extent.

After much research I finally clicked purchase on Tradesy and  bought an expensive claire pettibone dress.  Tradesy ran my credit card and after a week the seller backed out of sale! She said she was going to let a friend use it. I was refunded my money. I don’t appreciate a marketplace where a purchase is not guaranteed and the seller does not hold their end of the bargain.

1) Bad business Tradesy

2) There is no way to report a bad seller on Tradesy!

Anyone else has an issue?

Darn!

Back to looking for a wedding dress!

Hi! This discussion is a touch dated, but I wanted to add (in case anyone else finds this):

I bought a wedding dress on Tradesy (>350$) and the dress did not arrive in the condition advertised. It was listed as “New With Tags” and showing “No Signs of Wear.” When it arrived, it did not have the original tags, had multiple snags in the embroidery and two (in the front) in the silk.

I contacted customer service via their chat option (which seems to be always well-staffed! Good job there.) and was informed that because the item is in their “wedding” section, the standard return policy does not apply. I checked their return policy prior to ordering, and it was NOT made clear that the EXCEPTION to their policy was the ENTIRE WEDDING SECTION. The ENTIRE wedding section!!

My recourse is, at the moment, to work directly with the seller. Should the seller refuse a return — even for a mislisted item — Tradesy has told me they will help by “urging” the seller to work with me.

I think this seller is an honest person, so I hope we can work this out. That said, TRADESY’s policy of NOT STANDING BY THEIR CUSTOMERS (and not making their sometimes-this-sometimes-that return policy clear) is BAD BUSINESS! BEWARE!!

I get the feeling that this doesn’t happen all the time on Tradesy, I am just really disappointed with their “Wedding Exception” returns policy (especially for mislisted items). It’s worth KNOWING BEFORE YOU BUY, that your purchase — regardless of how it arrives! — – is considered FINAL by Tradesy!

JeanFish:  I’m a long time member at Tradesy and I’ve never had any problems at all, nor have my family or friends!  I agree that Tradesy needs to make up their mind whether theyre backing the customer or not!

I have not used Tradsey but I just purchased my dress from a woman from http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com I got my dress for 1/3 the store price and she wore it to her hotel wedding. We went through paypal so that the transaction was protected.
