@lilsweetie:  As much as I wanted to love moissanite, I had a not great experience here .

I’m a nutty perfectionist, and I was dumbfounded at my moissanite ring from moissaniteco. This was after I intentionally returned my diamond ring and opted for moissanite.

I was shocked, I like it far more than my diamond. And I’m genuinely one of those women who nit-picks and finds flaws in everything.

After I lost my ering I tried the Amora moissanite. It was YELLOW! Needless to say it went straight back and we bought another diamond.

If the colour was better I would have rocked the moissanite, but it wasn’t for me. Personally I don’t think the cut looks diamond like, it kinda looks like a diamond that someone sat on and squished. I think it’s important to love it for what it is.

I know nothing about moissanite so I have a question. Does buying an enhanced stone (Amora? Moissanite?) take care of the yellow color? I’ve read other bees complaints about the yellow color and I’m wondering if that’s the difference between the enhanced and unenhanced stones.

@star_dust:  The enhancement is supposed to help make the stone whiter and take care of the yellow, but it still shows some warmth in certain lighting from what I understand.

I have had my amora/mira moissy for 8 months now and i wrote a post on the smudges I have on my ring a while back, but i thought i had taken care of them when i wrote that post.  Apparently i havent and have ALWAYS had little smudges on each of the facets no matter how much i clean it.  its almost like it just attracts dirt and grease because sometimes i get parts of the grease stuff off but them it comes back and looks the same….im extremely frustrated at this point

The cut has a lot to do with it too. A round is the “whitest”, then cushion, oval, square. The way light hits it has something to do with it.

If someone buys moissanite expecting it to be exactly like a diamond, chances are they might be let down. It performs very differently, and even the enhanced ones will show some color.

That said, I love mine.

I have a moissy, 7mm or 1.25 carat and I love it more than my 1 carat diamond! It sparkles so nicely and while the cut is different I can not really tell in my diamond halo setting. It does show somecolor when I am in my jeep for some reason but other than that it is very white. But I think if you want a moissanite get a moissanite. If you are looking for something exactly like a diamond then only a diamond will do. I do think moissanite is very comparable in beauty to a diamond though!

@lilsweetie:  Nope, wouldn’t show color in stones that small.

I have a 7mm/1.8ct cushion and I LOVE it.  I’ve only had it for a few weeks, but it’s absolutely gorgeous.  I get tons of compliments on the sparkle.  I notice a little warmth in the car and under certain lights– other times it is super white.  But always beautiful.

@lilsweetie:  My fiance and I chose to get a moissanite engagement ring from moissaniteco.com with the intention of keeping it. We got a 1ct unenhanced moissy and although very sparkly and pretty the colour really bothered us. It changes colour alot depending on the lighting but it is often very green. Even outside we compared it to a diamond of similar proportions and the difference was obvious. I also felt that it looked very transparent, like you could see all the way to the bottom like a piece of glass. I kept it for 8 months and now that we have the money we bought a diamond online for a great price, so that will take the moissy’s place as my new engagement ring. I cannot comment on the colour of the new amora moissanites, though.
