I have called every dry cleaner in my area and everyone wants more than $100 to clean my dress. I know that isnt that bad but i have no money for that right now, my hours just got cut to 2 days a week!! I want to know if anyone has cleaned their dress at home…
My dress is made of satin, the bustle SUCKED and part of my dress was on the ground the whole night at an outdoor wedding! So the bottom is like BLACK. Also i looked at it the other day i must have spilled a little red wine on the front, just a small drop. And I have one more spot, (this one happened right before i walked down the aisle) My BM’s and mom’s all prayed around me, and my sister was over my shoulder, she started to cry, a tear fell down onto my dress, with makeup on it, so there is one spot on the chest area of makeup/tear….
If you have any suggestions on how to clean it please let me know. A friend of mine said to use oxy clean on the bottom in the sink with water, that is what she did for her wedding dress that was also satin.. but im not sure how to clean the makeup or red wine?? Or if you suggest another product other than oxy clean for the bottom….

Oxy clean will get out the red wine too.
Its super easy.
Take a clean toothbrush and get it a little wet (cold water) push it into the dry oxyclean. Place a clean towel underneath the layer you are cleaningIn small circular motions “buff” the red wine stain out. Dipping your brush into the oxyclean as you need it. With another clean white towel, rub dry. Repeat until out. (if you get some blue on your dress (from the blue beads in the oxyclean) keep buffing with a clean cloth and a little water and it should come out.)
Another great product is everblum. Its alcohol based. You can get it at places like bed bath and beyond. Use this in a well ventilated room! Take a small white clean cloth or towel, put a little everblum on it, and using the same steps as for the oxyclean buff it out. (you will need another towel between the layers again).
Hope This Helps

My dress wasn’t satin but it was pretty dirty and I washed it in the bath at home.
I used a gentle wool detergent with warm water and spot cleaner on the hem to get the grass and dirt stains out.
Worked fantastically and with no damage to the dress (and yeah, I wasn’t keen to pay $100+ either!).

I did it! Mine was very dirty at the hem. I hand washed in the bathtub with Shout and regular laundry detergent.
