@minted:  we are planning on doing the same thing (even though we’re not officially engaged) were also thinking about just skippig the reception all together because I don’t want to spend the money.

Another option is to have a non-religious city hall officiant do your vows at your reception site.  That’s what we did–booked a retired county clerk for $50 and the vows were the standard city hall vows that took no more than 2 minutes.  Reception outside in a park with catered BBQ, voila.

@minted:  my SO was like that too but I have since been able to convince him otherwise. We’re going to the local city hall and then taking a honeymoon a month later. What type of venue are you guys going to have your little reception at??

@minted:  that sounds like fun!!!!! We originally were going with something like that but when I realized how much it was costing, it was almost like why not just have a whole wedding?! I’m a very frugal person as well and that it a year of my college tuition. To me, I’d rather use that money for my school/daughter/house. It doesnt help that we live in a more upscale, college town and everything is ridiculously overpriced!

We had a city hall wedding in our small town with just one witness and a photographer. It was awesome!

@minted:  I have no idea who these people are, why the pic is rotated or why this pic is so big BUT I was thinking about getting this dress in maybe an off whiteish color. It’s a bridesmaids dress. It’s only $300! I think its sp cute with the belt and necklace. i still want us to be dressed up for cute pics (:
