I fast intermittently, about once – twice a week from 3 PM until about 11 AM the next day. Not a true fast. I don’t really see the point in them because they’re just a temporary lowering of calories.
The way I do it has been pretty successful for my weight loss/maintenance. I mainly do it because I play soccer and I don’t want to be full during the game or eat an entire meal at 9 PM. (Going to be dfull makes me sick) If I were to do it once in awhile it wouldn’t have any effect (other than avoiding cramps while running), but it’s a regular part of my regime and quite successful.

I did a 5 day one after watching that movie a few years ago. It didn’t work for me at all. I didn’t lose any weight, had no energy, felt like shit and was hangry all the time. Also, my teeth started to hurt from never chewing.
I really think that this might only be super effective for people like the guy in the movie, people that are having a lot of health problems and really need to do something fast to reset. For your average, relatively healthy person, I don’t see the point. I found Whole30 to be much better for resetting bad eating habits without starving yourself.

I gained weight on the juice fast. Wayyy too much sugar, and had my insulin levels going crazy.

I didn’t do a full blown juice fast, but when I juiced in the mornings and ate healthy the rest of the day, my skin was amazing. I’ve never had such beautiful skin. I didn’t lose any weight, but I’m small and didn’t need to. I still try to eat healthy, but the juice was what really made my skin glow. I would love to continue with the juicing, but it’s a pain the in butt to clean the juicer every morning.

I did a 3-day cleanse purchased from a juicery, but it included almond milks in the AM and PM, so I never felt hungry, just missed real food. It got rid of my bloat, which was the point, and lost a couple of pounds, but I’d definitely not do it just to lose weight.

i did the Master cleanse for 10 days and lost 10 lbs. its honestly not something you can do blind. I did a ton of research before embarking on it and prepped my body before. It was expensive, time consuming and it was a struggle both mentally & physically. Honestly, I dunno that I could do it again.
Does it work? Heck yes. Lost weight, stopped cravings & gave me some weird euphoria superman complex.
Is it miserable at times? Definitely. Headaches, weakness, slight cold, moody, etc.
Would I recommend? Yes IF and ONLY IF you are someone with serious discipline, motivation and the ability to alter your lifestyle for 10 days. I did not socialize for 10 days, literally. My roomie was on vacation for 7 days so there was no one, except coworkers, who ate around me. I didn’t watch TV or movies bc they had too many tempting ads. 10 days I just read, slept, walked my dog, cleaned & organized my apartment.

Never have but I would if my doctor recommended it. I have heard good and bad things. The one thing is you are supposed to ease yourself into it. Like don’t go from cheeseburger daily to juice cleanse the next day. I have heard a theory that you need to start eating more veggies and then more and more then ease into whatever length of juice cleanse or fadt you’re doing. But I don’t know the name of a plan. Plus I would start on a weekend to give your stomach time to get used to it.

I’ve done them and love them. Obviously not a way to loose weight – I like to add it in when I feel like I need to clean out my system and reenergize.
We bought our own juicer and make the juices ourselves but I’ve also done through Cropped and love their juices!

I did a variation of a juice fast that I highly recommend – juice for breakfast and lunch with a real meal (anything you want) for dinner, and after three months when I got under 100 pounds and started to scare myself, added a soup and sandwich lunch, made sure my dinners were healthier, and just replaced breakfast with juice. Did it for several years until I decided to TTC and will do the same thing once I am done nursing DD.
I made my juice from 1 bunch kale or Swiss chard or two bunches of spinach, with carrots, celery, cucumber, tomatoes, and a little (like 1/4 bunch) herb like Italian parsley, basil, OR cilantro (please do not use all three!) for flavor.
If you are on a super tight budget I suggest red cabbage, beets w/their greens and carrots.
For a summer treat I love watermelon or honeydew juice! If you wash the outside very thoroughly, you can also add the rind.
