I haven’t, but I’ve been to a wedding with one.  From a guest perspective, it was awesome!  The ice cream did melt quickly though, so you’ll have to find some work-around for that.  And make sure there are spoons and bowls – it sounds like a given, but there were only forks and plates (for cake) for the sundae bar!

We are doing one at our wedding 🙂 We are doing a tiny ice cream cake for us to cut, and then the ice cream bar is for the guests. No one likes cake anyway 😛 (Or remembers it for that matter).

We are using vintage glasses, cups, and bowls to hold things like nuts, sprinkles, oreo bits, etc. We’re getting them from my mom’s best friend who has a ton of that stuff just in closets and china hutches. I think that will really help make it not seem cheesy. We haven’t figured out what we’re doing for the ice cream yet, though, because our venue charges us if we have them scoop for the guests. We may have our guests do it themselves, but that could create a pile up in the line…. so, we’ll see.

Have you considered using apothecary jars and the like? Similar to a candy bar? I think that always looks really nice and classy 🙂
