We checked into renting a tent.  In our area a 20×40 tent was over $750.  We ended up buying 2 15×30 tents for $400.

You are right- they do get pretty costly whne you factor in tables, linens, restroom rentals if needed silly things, but for your area would probably still be cheaper. the big thing on the East Coast is the clear top tents- really pretty and makes everything a little “prettier.” you may want to see if your company offers them too!

It depends on the region you live in we found. As we live in the cold NE of England, outdoor venues are scarce and expensive. There were a lot of beautiful places we looked at, but you had to hire the land, then hire the tents, hire the tables and chairs, hire the cutlery, the toilets, a generator, a lighting/sound system and so on. Add onto all of that the catering and drinks and it always ended up being much more expensive than a standard venue. Whereas down South, there are a lot of converted barns and similar venues where we wouldn’t need to hire as much. I’d keep your eyes open for converted barns, old brewary buildings and those sorts of things. They can make for a beautiful setting and keep costs down.

Yea, that didn’t include the price for any tables or chairs or linens.  But honestly, we have friends with all that stuff that we are borrowing.

The bonus is that we get to keep the tents when it is all over and can use them whenever we want!

We got two quotes for tents when we thought there was a chance of rain on our outdoor wedding.  The place we got our rentals from was going to be $2400 including side walls and heaters and the other place was around $2800.  This wasn’t including any other rentals (tables, chairs, etc) or lighting (uplighting, string lights, etc), just basic lighting, side walls, and heaters.
