I almost did!

Dessy Group has great bridesmaid dresses.  I was going to order one in white or ivory.

Now I see Dessy has wedding gowns you can try on in your own home and return to order your final size!

And here are some simple, sexy trumpet gowns from David’s Bridal:

My mind is blown. This is such a smart idea and so much cheaper! Totally passing this on to other brides to be.

@4everChris:  Kim Kardashian did and I think that if you do floor length it makes it pretty confusing who the bride is.

I don’t think its an issue; just make sure you have a veil and your bouquet is SIGNIFICANTLY different from all the BM’s bouquets.

I think the OP meant using a bridesmaid dress as a wedding dress for her, not for her bridesmaids to have white dresses.

I did this!  My “drive out” price on the dress turned out to be $198.  I didn’t even need to have it hemmed by the time I put high heels on (I’m 5’5″).

It’s from Alfred Angelo, and I think the dress is bridal enough with the train.  I ordered mine in ivory (but you can get it in white, too), and I loved it!

@4everChris:  I am not having attendants, either.  It’s almost a relief, to be honest.  But others think I am nuts for not having any.  Yep, bridesmaid’s dress in white is the way to go!

I had no attendants (back when I had a full wedding planned).

I do not understand their purpose to be honest.

Lula Kate, Pearl bodice with short a-line skirt hemmed to the knee. $250. Loved it. Plan to wear it again.

I came close to the possibility.  I’m older and was looking for something very simple and beachy.  We had pulled some bridesmaids dresses to try on when we found this, which I bought (Mori Lee @500.00).  While searching onine, I found that designers that have a “Desinations” or similar line were closer to the simple look I was after.

@shaniqua:  Seriously!!! I didn’t watch any of that Kim Kardashian thing but seriously?!?

OP, I think that’s a lovely idea and I probably would have gone this way if my mother hadn’t offered me her dress.  I went to a wedding last year where the bride did this.  Her dress was lovely.  The only reason I even knew it was a bridesmaid dress is because she told me.  She also said she only paid $60 for it because it was on the clearance rack.  I’d say go for it!
