(Closed) Has anyone else had issues with American Airlines?

All the issues forever.  American Airlines is basically the worst company to have ever existed.  I have at least one issue with them every single time I fly with them.

I find it hit or miss with them. I usually have no problems, but the last trip I took my flight was late by like 3 hours. I’m surprised we didn’t get cancelled. It sucked.

Being in the DFW area all the crap going on with them kind of makes me sad because they’re the only airline that offers a direct flight to where my parents live which makes travelling so much better.

I dont even want to go into how much I hate AA. I’ve been playing phone tag for 8 months with them on a corporate refund that we still havent received though I’ve sent them the paperwork 10 times!

I have been tracking them in the news. We are flying with them for our anniversary trip later this year. So far, we’ve received notification that our flight times have changed. Nothing too bad, they were pushed up/back an hour or so. If you worked with a travel agent I would contact them. Ours has been contacting AA for us and dealing with them on our behalf to keep our itenrary more or less the same.

my fiance had his baggage lost on the way to visit me in the states AND on his way back home to scotland!  insane!!

I fly with them often (not because I want to, because they are cheap!), and have never had an issue with a missed flight.  You can track the flight online and show the history of that flight (it’s the same flight number every day) so you can see when it has delays, etc).  That might give you some peace of mind.

I’ve had delays due to technical issues and horrid in flight customer service – but never a completely canceled flight.

@laekna:  They lost my baggage when I went to a friend’s wedding a few years ago, and it was missing for a week because they gave it to another airline and then stopped communicating with them.  When it finally did come back to us, it was soaking wet because it had sat on the tarmac during a hurricane.  WTF.

AA is off my list of carriers.  They are unreliable and currently I believe their maintenance workers are striking.  A few seats have come unbolted during the flight on a few planes and that really concerns me in regards to flying with them now and in the future.

My dad just flew with AA for my grandmother’s funeral and he didn’t have any issues on the way there (though he was worried). Hasn’t come back yet but keeping fingers crossed for no issues there either.

I hope all you bees that had issues were reimbursed somehow!

We’ll first I spent 9 hours on the phone with them trying to chang our flights cause my mom got us the wrong flights- then they only switched 2 out of the 3 flights( my moms boyfriend was flying with us- my mom was already there with my sister) and it was a huge mess and alot more complicated then it should have been.

We flew to NYC for the propsal and FI is kinda an idiot and put the ring in the suit case.

So we get to Nyc at 11 at night there is a private driver waiting for us and we can’t find our bags after waiting they tell us our bag is in chicago and will be there at MIDNIGHT!!

So they told us they would bring the bag to our hotel. So we stayed up till 2:30 waiting. We called they said they would bring it in the morning. So i got up at 7 in the morning after staying up till 2:30  on one of the biggest days of my life – waited an hour- no bag. Finally as everyone else started waking up i fell back to sleep – and my moms boyfriend had to pay for a taxi to go back and get the bag for us while I got ready- Then not only was he able to get it but he  just walked in and grabed it out of the middle of a public room- anyone could have taken it and my ring would have been  gone forever!

 

Everything was fine on the way back till they charged my mom an extra 45 $ for my boyfriends ticket? She’d bought mine cause it was originally going to be us sisters and my mom but when he wanted to ask the question NYC is my dream place so the boys tagged along too- so she bought my ticket and the guys got their own. Well she got charged 45 more for the SAME ticket that my fi had bought!

They still wont even contact me back about the charge.

I also had countless issues with AA>  I have since boycotted them… it’s not surprise that so many have had similar experiences.
