I’ve a big fan of cruises, I’m 20 and been on 6 so far. Fiance and I went on Royal Carribbean in January but not Explorer. Virgin Islands are somewhere I have always wanted to go and we looked into cruises for the honeymoon but decided against it since it’s something we do alot. Balcony rooms are nice, a lot more spacious than the inside or oceanview rooms so I’m sure you’ll enjoy that. Go to the shows, they are a lot of fun and often times have honeymooners come up on stage or play games. I’m sure you’ll have a blast!

@BriansBride:  We did! Just got back last Sunday. It was awesome. We did a 7 day Caribbean cruise that left from Puerto Rico. We sailed on the Carnival Valor and I have nothing but great things to say about it. We visited St. Thomas, Barbados, St. Lucia (my favorite), St. Kitts, and St. Maarten. We did three excursions through Carnival-screaming jet boat, zip lining through the rain forest and a catamaran/snorkel. They were pricey, but totally worth it. We just shopped and went to beaches at the other two ports. Even our day at sea was fantastic. We went to the comedy club almost every night, we gambled a little and watched a lot of the shows.

We also spent 3 days at a resort in Puerto Rico, which was nice and relaxing, but the cruise was so much more fun! Sorry I don’t know anything about Royal Carribean, but have fun!

@BriansBride:  Just don’t tell them it’s your honeymoon at the show 😉  I wanted to do a cruise because my husband has some anxiety issues too & one of his challenges is flying.  We ended up just driving up & down the coast (we live in CA) But I’m hoping to get him on a shorter cruise so that eventually I can get him somewhere tropical or even Alaska.  I’ve only been on a cruise with my sister but I loved it and I definitely think it would be very romantic.  There were a lot of couples on the cruise & they all seemed to be having a great time.

@BriansBride:  Yeah you can just not raise your hand, but sometimes they will announce it at dinner and bring you dessert with a candle.

No but I’m excited too!!! We are taking a 14 day cruise on Celebrity

We are going to Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia ,Thailand, and Singapore.

I’m really excited for Bali and the Fiance is excited for Komodo, where the Komodo dragons are.

We’ll take our snorkling gear as well as our inflatable paddleboards so we can snorkle and paddleboard anywhere.

LOVE Cruisin’

For our Honeymoon, Mr TTR & I did a week long in the Southern Caribbean with Celebrity (on the Summit).  It went in and out of San Juan… then day at sea – Barbados – St Lucia – Antigua – Sint Maarten / St Martins – St Thomas – and back to San Juan.

A cruise is very romantic and filled with pampering… you unpack once and wake up everyday in a new country for adventure & exploration.

Celebrity is one of the cruise lines owned by Royal Caribbean Group… each Cruise Line focussing on a different demographic.  Azamara is their smaller more luxury line… Celebrity their upscale mass market line… and Royal Caribbean their regular mass market line.

Celebrity & Royal Caribbean Ships are similar, and even do a lot of the same destinations.

My best advice…

Do lots of reading / research BEFORE you go, so you know what to expect and won’t waste any time getting familiar with how things work.  You can find great info on the Cruise Line’s own Websites… as well as Cruise Critic.com the worlds # 1 on-line resource for Cruisers.  (CC is part of the TripAdvisor / Expedia family).  You’ll find tons of info on CC.  Info about specific cruiselines, ships, even cabins !!

And there are Reviews… Professional ones from the Industry, as well as other Cruisers.

CC also has Forums where you can browse past topics, or post a Question and get great answers from frequent cruisers (there are people who have cruised dozens of times)

And there is a spot on CC where you can connect with other Cruisers on the same cruise as you… oftentimes folks plan a Sail Away Party… and the Cruise Line will host a COMPLIMENTARY Meet & Greet.  On past cruises we’ve gone to both… and they’ve been fun (as those who have cruised before, we chose not to do either of those on our Honeymoon)… BUT we did tell the Cruise Line we were Honeymooning… and Celebrity gave us some extra perks cause of that including an Invite for Cocktails with the Captain one afternoon along with other Honeymooners & Anniversary Celebrants.  That was nice.

We made it a rule on our Honeymoon to not be shy… and tell everyone it was our Honeymoon.  People LOVE to see other people so in LOVE, so there are perks to be gotten enjoyed for sure… both on the Ship & off (especially in Hotels ashore before & after our cruise)… Telling folks we were Honeymooning got us a wide variety of Freebies… Drinks – Dessert – Souvenirs – Tshirts etc.

Do enjoy your Honeymoon Cruise…

Lol, if you are anything like Mr TTR & I, you’ll be planning another cruise afterwards

(NOTE – There are perks given to Cruisers who book their next cruise while on-board… or at least by a fully refundable cruise certificate that you can put towards a cruise… costs somewhere around $ 100 to $ 200.  We always do that).

Hope this helps,

@BriansBride:  we did a honeymoon cruise to Bermuda in August and LOVED it!!  We still cannot stop raving about our awesome experiences!  We had basically 3 days on Bermuda which was fantastic and we also had a great time on the cruise.  We made friends, drank and ate ourselves  stupid (we had a drink package, totally worth it, turned the cruise into a floating all-inclusive), relaxed, partied, relaxed some more, wandered around, and just generally had a fantastic time.  Cannot recommend a honeymoon cruise enough.  You hop on the boat, and you just enjoy enjoy enjoy.  My only regret was not booking a back-to-back and doing a two-week honeymoon! LOLOL.

@BriansBride:  We did a honeymoon cruise with Carnival. It was a blast. We both loved it. There is SO much to know about cruising, but just know you will have fun. Biggest takeaways is bring lots of cash for alcohol as it is expensive to get drinks other than water (unless you get a drink card), bring a dress or something formal becuase typically ships have a formal night, and try not to overpack, but do make sure to bring all of your meds + extra. The rooms are small, so that is another reason not to overpack.

I didn’t honeymoon to the places you mentioned, BUT I have been to San Juan, and all I can say is if you have time and want to learn to salsa dance, go to the Latin Roots and have some fun. It was amazing (great food and atmosphere), and make sure to try mofongo 🙂

We cruised with Princess and LOVED it! We went to St. Thomas (my fav!) St. Maarten, Grand Turk, and the Bahamas. It was amazing.

ETA: On St. Thomas we did an excursion on a champagne catamaran to St. John. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommed it if y’all get the chance. St. John is stunning, and you should have time to do a little shopping in downtown St. Thomas after.

@BriansBride:  My Fiance and I did that exact cruise last year.  I’m an avid cruiser and I love going right out of my area.  If you want to see pictures, i’ll send you my shutterfly link!!
