I missed my period the month of my wedding which I thought was because of stress but they continued to be irregular after. I have even missed 2 months in a row (preg tests negative) the Dr. told me it was natural for things to change. Even though I have always been regular with it before now I am not. I have also been under a lot of stress because my husband lost his job right before the wedding and we are living off of my meager pay check while he searches for a job and i search for a better one so that might be a factor. Have you been stressed?

@Katnisseverdeen:  Is there possibly a clinic like Planned Parenthood or any other local one that you could get into before going to see your regular doctor? They will be able to do more tests and at least put your mind at ease, or give you an answer to hold you over or to tell your doctor when you go see him/her.

Did you recently switch your BC? Sometimes the switch throws your body out of whack, even if you started the new one a few months ago. I know it’s scary, but it’s pretty common. Have you called to be put on a waiting list? Usually if a Doctor’s office knows you’re stressing out they’re willing to call you if they have a sudden cancellation so you can come in.

I skipped 2 periods in a row because of stress when I was going through a bad breakup. It is completely normal for stress to effect some people more than others. I would definitely still go talk to a doctor about it though just to make sure nothing else is going on! Good luck!

If you asked a doctor, he/she would tell you it’s ok to miss a period once in awhile.  I’m not sure of your age, but cycles change as you get older.  Stress can cause you to miss a period, excessive weight gain or weight loss can cause missed periods, certain medications can cause you to miss a period, as well as pregnancy…I’m sure I am missing more.  Anyhow, I wouldn’t be too concerned if you’ve only missed one.  It’s when you go 3 or more months without one that they will start to look at other things.  I wouldn’t stress too much.  You should be ok until you can get to into the doctor. 🙂

I once didn’t get my period for almost 4 months. Looking back, the situation I was in was stressful but at the time I didn’t feel like it was out of control stress. Wasn’t pregnant. But still didn’t get my period for what felt like forever. Hopefully it’s just stress.

I had issues where I didn’t get a period regularly for about a year, if not more. Turned out to be a thyroid disorder called Hashimoto’s disease

There can be loads of very normal reasons for this, with the most common being stress (what? I stressed bride? Never!). I’d say give yourself another week before panicking.
