once i had a huge lump that turned out to be nothing–it was a swollen lymph node that went away on its own. it was on the side of my boob and i found it on my own. i freaked out and went to the doctor and she told me what it was.

my doctor says when it’s bad is when it feels like a jagged rock coated in oatmeal.

good luck! i REALLY hope it turns out to be nothing.

xoxo

I found a lump once but it turned out to be a large cyst that eventually went away on its own. They had sent me to get an ultrasound done on it instead of a mammogram but that may have been due to my young age at the time. My family has no history of breast cancer and I was still worried! I hope everything goes weel and do keep in mind that there are many other possibilities besdies the C word!

I had/have one. We did an ultrasound on it and it turned out to be “abnormal normal tissue”. So  normal tissue the just sits on top of a fat layer and feels hard. I hope your lump turns out to be nothing. Hugs:)

Just had a biopsy this week which has been diagnosed as ductal carcinoma in situ.  Not so much worried about the fact it is a carcinoma as the fact that surgery will likely impact my ability to exercise for at least a couple weeks and I have a half marathon coming up.

It happened to me a few years ago when I was 27.  I was also worried, since my grandmother had had breast cancer at age 40 (though she beat it and is now perfectly healthy at age 77).  They sent me for an ultrasound, and since that was inconclusive, they gave me a needle biopsy.  Thankfully, it turned out to be nothing but fibrous tissue.  I know how stressful this can be – try to do something relaxing, and don’t think about it too much.  Good luck!

I found a large lump the week before the wedding.  I was freaking out.  I saw the doctor and she sent me for an ultrasound.  Turned out to be a benign cyst.  And it turned out I had quite a few of them.

I had my first mammogram about 5 months ago at 36.  My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer at 38yrs old(she went through chemo and radiation and is now 62 and cancer free) so I decided to get one to be safe.  Well…I got the dreaded letter saying they found an area of concern and I needed to come back for more testing.  I FREAKED out for an entire week before I got my next appt.  It was to worst week of my life….I was sure I had cancer.  At my appt they told me there were 3 areas that showed up on the 1st mammogram (2 on 1 breast and 1 on the other)…so I freaked out even more at that point.  They focused the mammogram on those areas and had me wait there for the dr to look at the results.  As it turns out my breasts are ‘dense’ and layers of tissues had overlapped causing the ‘areas of concer’.  I did so many searches during that week, read so many stories…and even though the statistics were against my having cancer…nothing eased my mind.  I hope you get your answers soon and I hope everything is ok.  I know how you are feeling..I’ve been there.
Please let us know how it goes!!

I found a lump in my breast one night last summer. I was at FI’s house and we were watching TV. I crossed my arms over my chest kind of tightly and all of the sudden I felt a pop and then a searing burning pain in my right breast. I went to the bathroom to do a quick exam and the tissue under my skin was so tender I couldn’t touch it. On the other side of my breast was a movable, squishy small lump. Luckily enough I had my annual at the gyno the next day. I was very worried because my grandmother had breast cancer in the late 90’s, she has been cancer free for over fifteen years now, but I wanted to get them checked out.

I told her about them and while she did my breast exam she discovered I had benign cysts in my breasts. One had ruptured which was why I had that searing pain. I had four of them all together. She was not worried and said that because certain BCP can cause them that they are perfectly benign. She told me to keep an eye on them and they went away within a few days. I haven’t had any since but I do keep an eye on them all the time.

several years ago my gyn found a lump and after a mammogram they sent me to biopsy.  it turned out to be something benign. can’t remember the name of it, it was fibrocystic something.  i could have had it removed but i didn’t.  i have uterine fibroids too pretty bad so i think it’s all related to horomones, mostly too much estrogen.  there are ways you can lower your estrogen and it is crazy what simple products out there mimic estrogen and cause problems for us.

I have a family history of lumps, and most often, they turn out to be nothing.  The good thing is, you’ve been having regular exams and this is new since your last Well Woman exam, I’m guessing.  So IF (God forbid) it is anything, they caught it early.  I hope it turns out to be nothing.  Keeping you in my thoughts!
