Have you ever talked to an actual doctor about this?

I had almost the exact same thing happen and I have no answer for you! Mine has been this way for probably 10 years now, also on my right side, but right under my jawline in front of my ear. I was sick when it was swollen, and it never shrunk back down completely. I hope someone here has some information.

I have two lymph nodes that swelled up (presumably when I was sick, but I didn’t notice it at the time) and then scarred over and stayed that way. They don’t hurt or change size at all. Like you, I had this for years before I started panicking–my doctor confirmed that they were fine with a quick ultrasound, no biopsy needed (and said I’d have tons more symptoms if it were lymphoma over the course of several years). I would schedule an appointment just for your own peace of mind.

Yes I have one in my neck. It was needle biopsied and determined it’s just an enlarged lymph node. It’s still the same years later

Are you sure it’s a lymph node? You should definitely talk to a doctor about this.

I have an enlarged lymph node in my neck that isnt painful unless I put a lot of pressure on it or move it a certain way. Its been this way for probably 4 years and I’ve brought it to the attention of 3 of my doctors (primary, ENT, and GYNo lol) and none of them were concerned. Does it move around or is it fixed? My doctors have said since mine moves when they touch it it wasn’t concerning. They said sometimes they just never go back to their original size after they had become swollen from an infection.

Chances are its nothing but I would definitely bring it up to your doctor just in case.

As an ER nurse, I can tell you that we get patients in all the time with swollen lymph nodes that they are not even aware of.

What I don’t understand is, if you are freaked out about this, why haven’t you had a doctor follow it?

Don’t be afraid to go see a doctor. Chances are it is nothing, as other bees have pointed out. But you want that peace of mind. Make the appointment today.

My mother had swollen lymph nodes that were not painful. At first they were lupus related. There is treatment for that. But there really are all sorts of reasons for enlargement and not going back down completely, many of which are benign.

Make that appointment!

katiecat89:  Are you sure it’s a lymph node? I’d have this checked out. Let this thread be the push to make an appointment. If the doc thinks you are being hypochondriachal, so what. It’s worth it for the peace of mind on this.

katiecat89:  Get it checked out. It’s probably fine, but a swollen lymph node can sometimes mean bad things.

katiecat89:  It sounds to me like you should see both your regular doctor AND someone to discuss your anxiety.
