lilredcat:  thank you so much, that’s very sweet! I’ve had many sincere compliments on it as well so I try not to let the cattiness bother me.

I have an 8mm round brilliant sapphire (dichroic green-blue), but it doesn’t look nearly as large on my finger as many of the similarly sized stones in this thread because 1) it’s bezel set, which  means that the edges of the stone are covered, so about .5-1mm of edge is lost, and 2) I prefer hefty bands with intricate engraving, so the shank of my ring is probably a good 5mm wide (I haven’t measured it).  Thus, the overall “impact” of the stone is much less than it would be on a thinner band.  Regardless, it’s not a “delicate” ring by any means.  I’m not a “delicate” jewelry person – I like my jewelry weighty and ornate.

I don’t want to say that I regret my ring, cause me and Fiance picked it out together and he got me exactly what I wanted. It’s a three stone with a round centre and oval sides And is very beautiful.  I think I regret rushing into it, so excited to get engaged I didn’t really think I’d feel the way I do down the track. I now wish we’d gone for a simple solitaire in the 0.5-0.75 region. My ring is a TCW of 1.75 and I just find it too much some times. I feel awful even saying these things.

Just make sure you know exactly what you want and don’t rush your decision. 🙂 xx

I don’t. My ring is about 2 carats and I think its the perfect size for my finger.. Which is around an 8.
