OMG I hear this all the time. Esp since we both have the same color hazel/honey colored eyes.

No, but at my cousin’s wedding a few years back, a distant family member came up to my fiance and said “Oh my God you must be one of Mark’s kids!”. Mark is my uncle… and this particular family member had not seen any of his kids since they were little.

@futureMrsCPT: Me and my dad went to Europe together after I graduated high school and I think a few French people thought we were together…which is gross and we look alike. Oh well.

Yes, we’ve been asked if we were siblings before- I thought it was a little odd.

I’ve gotten it! In May we were at a diner (late) and the hostess asked if we were doing a brother/sister dinner. Or something similar. First time we have ever heard that! And we dated/were friends back in hs, and never heard it then.

We’re reunited, so who knows, had we stayed together we might have heard it before the diner.

Yup! And they’re always European. Actually, we most recently got the brother/sister question when we were waiting for our ferry while in Bermuda on our HONEYMOON. An older couple out of nowhere asked if we were brother and sister and we couldn’t help but laugh since that wasn’t the first time we’ve gotten that. We think it’s since we’re both plus size with brown hair. Other than those two features, we look nothing alike.

I read somewhere that when a couple has been together for a very long time that they start looking like each other. If I remember correctly it was a study done about the way the looks of a couple change over time and they did the study on people who were married 50 years and more. Don’t know if that is really the case but interesting if it is.

No one has said it to us, but Darling Husband and I do actually look like brother and sister so I wouldn’t be offended or upset if someone mistook us for siblings. One of the reasons it probably hasn’t happened yet is bc Darling Husband and I are very affectionate and usually holding hands in public, so I think that is a dead giveaway we aren’t related.

No one ever told us that we looked alike, but one of my brother’s co-workers thought my fiancé was related to my brother because she said they look alike. That was pretty weird.

Yep, been assumed siblings before. But granted, it was at a wedding, we were with his dad, and we were only 19 and 21. We look nothing alike at all though – 100% confident it was just the environment that made people assume we were siblings, not a couple. They’d have to guess one way rather than the other and if we WERE family and they assumed we were a couple…. that’d be awkward. I don’t find it awkward at all when people ask if we’re siblings (thinking about it, it must have happened more than once but I don’t remember any other times).

I was also assumed the mother of 5 and 9 year old boys when I was on holiday aged 13. That was mad. I think the guy was trying to chat me up, he was clearly a few years older, but that really was not a way to hit it off with a 13 year old girl! He also refused to believe I was English (this happened in Australia), which was really weird, too.

It’s never happened to us, but we’re generally behaving in a way that brother and sister wouldn’t (unless they were very, very sick). Even in the supermarket we tend to be hugging and kissing all the time.

It hasn’t happened to us, but when I met one of my best friends, she was at the bar with her husband. They were asked this question, and then started taking money from people to watch them make out! It was so funny!
