Just wondering if anyone has tried the brand: NJOY (electronic cig) to help them kick the habit? I want something that looks and feels like a real cigarette – but is only vapor. The NJOY e-cig looks like something I may try – but I would like help/opinions first. I would like to at least try this route – current smoker for 13 yrs. and have tried patches, gum, cold turkey, and Chantix – none of those routes worked because of an allergic reaction or really colorful dreams/sponteniously awake and alert at 2 a.m. Any help would be great. Thanks – or any brands you would recommend. I smoke: Marlboro Light 100’s was from 1 pack down to seven smokes a day sometimes six, but would like to quit.

My fi used the eCigs for a while, but they definitely didn’t help him quit, if anything he would just smoke them more often then he was smoking regular cigarettes. Because you can smoke them in places where you typically can’t smoke a cigerette, (car, house, heck even at work) he would smoke it all the time, where as normally he wouldn’t smoke in those places/situations.
I hoe that makes sense.
Good luck with quitting, my Fiance and I are quitting when we come home from our honeymoon.

My FH quit smoking in 2ish weeks using an e-cigarette he got at the gas station. Anytime he had a major craving, he’d take one hit from the e-cigarette and then go about his business until he had another craving. Soon enough, he didn’t need it anymore.

My mom smoked for almost 20 years. She hasn’t picked up a real cigarette since she started using her e-cigg 5 months ago. She says she only craved them sometimes from habit ie while having her coffee or drinking but that desire is totally gone now. Good luck!

My mom has been smoking since she was a teenager. She hasn’t smoked a real cigarette in three months–She used a e-cig to stop! I’m not sure what brand but it was not one of the cheap ones. It was so worth it! She is so healthier now!

Thanks for all your help and advice. I just gotta try it, it’s got to be better than Marlboro Light 100’s and all the chemicals (not just nicotine) I keep puffing into my system. I am not a weak person – but I have my faults. I have chronic pain every single minute, of every single day – and it wasn’t from an accident – it’s from a genetic condition in my spine – which is stressful and I should quit smoking – but I get so stressed out from the pain – I have meds too – but nicotine actually does have temperorary benefit to pain sufferers, but the rest of the chemicals forget it – they are really bad. I am really going to give it a serious shot.

@newbabybee: I’ve used an electronic cigarette for the past two years. It works, plain and simple. It can take time to find the setup that works for you, though. For enough info to make your eyeballs bleed, check out
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com. It’s a very helpful forum with thousands of users.
I still use nicotine in my e-liquid, but have cut down by more than half. Some people quit completely after switching to the e-cig. I’m not one of them ( meaning still using the e-cig, haven’t smoked since March 2011 ) , but considering I have avoided smoking over 40,000 cigarettes in the past two years, I consider it a success.

Wanted to add – my smoker’s cough is completely gone. My home and car don’t smell like smoke. I don’t get colds that last for weeks. As a smoker, colds would last and last and make me absolutely miserable. I have only had one cold since switching, and it lasted 3 days. I can smell and taste better. I can smell food cooking in a crock pot on the other side of the house.
