What place are you looking into?

Find a phone number, call it and ask where to direct you.  You may get transferred around a bit but keep it up, it will be worth it.  Also, always ask for the number in case call gets dropped or you end up at a random voicemail.  Also, know that many times if you have anyone doing business on public or government property, permits, and/insurance could be required.  But it also depends on size of wedding.

I went to a wedding held in a national park as a guest, and it was a lot of fun. The couple rented out a massive group camp site in Northern Idaho, and invited people to come out anytime that weekend with the reception held on Saturday afternoon. It was really nice to not have to worry about a hotel, catch up with friends, and be able to help with set up nice and early. From what I heard it was a little round about to actually book the site, but it wasn’t that expensive. I would totally look into it!

I had a wedding fully planned and paid for in Grand Teton National Park.  They had a list of areas where one could have a wedding but no chairs, decor, PA system, rice/bubble/confetti could be used at all – unless at the lodges.

I’ve seen blogs of Yosemite weddings too.

Which park is it?

Yeah, pretty sure the NPS website is the worst designed of any government site.  I’d find a phone number and call someone.  I think it’s a wonderful idea though – there are some beautiful ones out there.

I worked for the National Park Service for many years, so I might be able to answer your questions.  What park are you thinking of using?

You will need to get a special use permit to have your ceremony in the NP- http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/weddings.htm.

If you have a professional photographer, there is also a permit application for that- http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/upload/filmapp.pdf.

Your guests will need to pay the entrance fee to the park, so you might want to consider a group transportation.  Here’s a website on the different fees for each vehicle- http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/feesandreservations.htm

Receptions are treated the same as a group reservation at the lodges.  Here’s a website with info on catering at the lodges- http://www.yosemitepark.com/weddings.aspx.  Here’s a link with other lodges nearby the park- http://yosemite.com/where-to-stay/hotel-listings/all.  Campgrounds can also be reserved, if you’re looking for something more rustic- http://www.recreation.gov/unifSearchResults.do;jsessionid=ED312C7AAF2B9355622B66C72029C51F.web05-ny?topTabIndex=Search

I hope this helps!  Let me know if you have any other questions.
