TaraMay_:  Having had two parents who were alcoholics, I have very little patience for people who can’t control their alcohol intake. I’m not talking about alcoholism. I know it’s a disease and those afflicted are simply unable to exercsie discretion over their intake.

The rest of us can alternate alcohol with water, juice, soda etc so we don’t end up looking and behaving foolishly.

TaraMay_:  I also have no tolerance anymore!!  I plan on taking it very easy on the wedding day. Maybe some champagne in the morning and then nothing else until a glass of wine with dinner.  Maybe one additional drink after that.  Alcohol makes the redness in my face worse so I’m definitely waiting until after photos.

TaraMay_:  Hahaha! My tolerance is pretty low too! I worry about the same thing! I hope that I’m not so giddy and excited that I accidetally get trashed!!! I work for an event planner and whenever we conduct rehearsal, she advises everyone to drink one glass of water per alcoholic beverage. Sounds great in theory, but we all know how that goes!!!! lo;

I had a glass of champagne at the hair salon and a couple sips of champagne while getting ready, but at the reception I really didn’t drink that much. I kept “losing” my glass of wine. I would talk to someone or go dancing and set my wine glass down and then have to get another. I ended up not being drunk at all. By the time our afterparty rolled around, I was so tired I didn’t even feel like drinking anymore.

One tip that DH’s cousin gave me was to have wine spritzers. A little seltzer water with white wine helps to water it down a bit, no one really can tell and it doesn’t get you drunk as fast…

My husband did. Everybody wanted to have a drink with the groom and he isn’t good at saying no. He was mostly just having a good time and dancing and laughing, but towards the end of the night he was definitely drunk. And he got sick when we got back to the hotel. It’s actually only the second time in 6 years I’ve seen him that drunk. So it wasn’t a big deal. I definitely recommend drinking lots of water, that’s what I did and I was pretty happily buzzed but not drunk. I also agree that it was hard to get through a drink because you get pulled in so many different directions.

I drank a lot but I didn’t feel drunk, I was just having too much fun dancing and working it off I guess. My husband drank a lot too and definitely seemed tipsy, and then had a hangover the next day whereas I did not.

TaraMay_:  I ended up super sick on my wedding night, but I was never drunk. I think it was largely dehydration coupled with champagne coupled with rich food (cake, fois gras, and salmon) or maybe even food poisoning. I DEFINITELY should have drank more water, but I was getting married alone and really worried about having to use a public bathroom to go pee in my dress with no help. So I kind of skimped on the water and even though it wasn’t super hot that day, I guess it just didn’t work out.

It was awful though. I was so sick. lol. It was almost comical how unsexy of a wedding night it was.
