- Wedding: December 2016
Hi Bees
My husband and I got married earlier this year at the registry office because we are planning on having our wedding in his home country (the UK), but in order to get legally married there was going to be all but impossible for us to do, due to immigration reasons that I won’t go into.
So instead, we got married here (NZ) and are having our “big day” over in the UK. For all intents and purposes, it will be a wedding, the only difference being that we are already married. The church likes to call this ceremony a “marriage blessing” in which all will proceed in much the same way as a regular wedding would, but we will have our rings blessed and won’t need to sign the register at the end.
Has anyone else done a marriage blessing and how did it go for you? What should I expect? The vicar told us we can have basically whatever we want that would occur at a normal wedding (hymns, choir, organist, wedding bells – all of which we are having) but I need to think about readings etc. and whether we will exchange personal vows (which we didn’t do at the registry office).
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated! 😀
