I seriously considered this when looking for e-rings but instead i decided to go for a setting that would fit a band flush.

HOWEVER – my RHR is a similar kind of setting and if I look at it, I wouldn’t notice a bit cut out of the bottom.

Also – you’re going to have your wedding band on all the time, do you want to wear it on its own at some point?

Another question – how important is it to have the bands flush? to me it’s REALLY important so i wouldn’t even hesitate but if you want a shaped band you could also go that route 🙂

I have a similar problem with my ering and band, too. I was adamant about having the rings sit flush, but it couldn’t be done without getting a curved band (which isn’t my personal style) or like you said, cutting a notch. Not happening! So I’m just sucking it up, they won’t be flush. Worse things could happen, right? Lol

I can’t add a pic from my iPad but here’s a link to an entry I posted w/ pics of my ering: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/wedding-ring-advice

I don’t have a pic of my band, but it matches the band of my ering (diamonds on 3 sides, 3/4 of the way around the band). Can’t wait to get it on Sunday! :oD

So i had the choice, cut the basket of my ring or adapt the wedding band itself and have 2 stones removed and then shaped to fit perfectly flush against my Engagement Ring so thats what i chose. I which i had a picture of just the wedding band to show you but its in the bank until next month (hurray wedding!) But here are a few pictures, if you have any questions about it feel free to ask. I was 100% happy with my choice and love it!

in the second photo you can see it a little better where he cut around my oval to make it fit perfect!

I have the same problem with my setting. I did not like the curved band at all, and the gap was too much for me. I ran into a girl with the same setting as me and she showed me the notch they cut in the basket and you just stick the band in there. It can definitely be done easily, and it’s what I plan to do! I will try to find a photo example to post.

I don’t have a photo but a friend of mine has a marquise ring and she also has to have a notch cut out so the wedding band would sit flush.  It’s so subtle that she had to point it out to me.

I didn’t have one cut, but my wedding band came with a notch in it so it sits flush against my ring:
