I am saving for this.  Live in a tropical climate so seriously need to invest in something like this for myself.

PandaBurr:  Unforunately I found that it wasn’t as effective on my underarms… seems hormonal and it is persistant. There is less than before, but I still have to shave them – or pay for a touch up every couple months. At this point i only bother getting them touched up if I’m going in for my legs – it’s been several years since my inital package but my thighs still could use a touch up once a year.

PandaBurr:  I leave a tiny bit of stubble just so that they know where all to zap. I’ve had spots missed when I shaved too close.

I think my clinic asks you to shave the area 48hours prior to your appt.

Am I the only person who didn’t think it was worth it?  I went in for 6 sessions (they say that’s all it takes for semi-permanent) and after a few weeks I always have hair growing back.

For the expense and the pain (yes, it hurts) I didn’t think it was worth it.  Slowly but surely it grows back normal as well.

I used to do laser hair removal for a living! (:

Please shave prior to your first laser hair appointment. At the consultation, have something they can look at to see the color and thickness of the hair. It can be stubble, you don’t need to grow the hair out or anything like that.

You will likely need  6 to 9 treatments to see permanent results. However, with some people, I saw them coming back in up to 12-15 times to get some stubborn hairs that wouldn’t go away. We didn’t “spot” treat, so they would have the entire area done at that time to get the sparse hairs that kept growing back. Most people saw results in 6 to 9 treatments, though. Also, hormones and other factors later in life can elicit hair growth, even after seeing permanent results before.

Keep in mind that you will need to stay out of the sun for 4 weeks after treatments, meaning no tanning or laying out in the sun…wear lots of sunscreen on the area you treat. Also, make sure if you get a tan to let that tan fade before going in for any laser hair removal treatments (at least 2 or 3 weeks). You don’t want to get burnt or have what we call hyperpigmentation from the laser after your treatments. Your consultation will go over this and what the risks are for that.

Let us know how it goes! I’ve had it done myself. I think the undearms are the most painful, but they were definitely worth it for me. I tried my legs, and it wasn’t so bad. I really liked my results and I thought it was great!
