I haven’t had anything stolen.  Our house is really close to the street and I know kids walk by a lot because sometimes they throw wrappers for expensive organic snacks in our trash can/recycling bin when it’s at the curb for pickup.

I’m not worried about plants because our neighbor on one side has SO MANY planted flowers and even more in pots decoratively strewn about.

Moral of the story: keep stuff that’s a little less nice than your neighbor and, if someone comes a’thievin’, they’ll get hit, not you.

While not plants, all our neighborhood fences are missing their little thumb piece to open the gate. Within a few weeks or getting a fence put in, you are guaranteed to be missing the thumb piece. It’s kinda strange..

My folks used to have a small pond at their house. They kept having fish disappear. Turns out a great blue heron made lunch out of them. Maybe some of the plants being pulled up/gone are from animals?

Between my experiences living at my parent’s houses and my own house, we’ve never had a plant stolen.

We have had plants stolen…

Spent all saturday infront of our rental property, replacing all the plants I had killed due to lack of care. Finished up – went inside for dinner. Came out in the morning and they were ALL gone!!

I went for my normal run in the morning, and found out the neighbour round the corner had planted them in his garden. Pretty recognisable.

I got my dad to go round with the reciept from my garden purchases and talk politely to the neighbour.

They were back  and planted in front of my house two days later.

🙂

Someone dug up some flowers that my friend got me after I had surgery. My grandma found out who that person was and chewed them out.

@newname_99:  Yeah, unfortunately it’s in the front yard with no fence or anything, and it’s a pretty young tree and short, so anyone walking down the side walk can just go about 15 feet onto our property and pluck them off. It is getting taller though, so hopefully the height will start to deter people! We were trying to think of ways to defend the mangoes: motion sensor sprayer, electric fence… Lol

Haha! This was actually a pretty common crime in my parents neighbourhood not so long ago. Those huge ceramic pots would go missing – the kind that were so heavy you would need at least 2 people to pick it up. Also little herb plants. These people would then try to flog it to neighbours or at fleamarkets.

I live in a suburb. I’ve nevr had plants stolen. At first I thought they were, but it turns out that the deer are very brave. They will literally walk right up to your porch and eat everything. Next time I just purchased deer resistant plants.

I haven’t, but I would be so freaking sad if someone did that to me!

Somebody stole my neighbor’s BBQ cover. We were confused as to why they didn’t steal the whole grill, then we realized it was frozen to the ground. Oh, and somebody stole our snow shovel. Cheap bastards can’t buy their own shovels apparently…
