(Closed) Has anyone had problems with Etsy?

Etsy can be pretty hit or miss. I’ve had good and bad experiences and it all comes down to individual sellers. Sometimes you just get a bad one. Sometimes things are out of their control. I just proceed with caution now. Sorry bee!

Have you figured out what the problem was?  Did the seller actually do anything wrong — use the wrong address, wrong postage, etc.?  If so, then I think it’s reasonable to expect them to respond quickly.  But if the problem was not their fault, then I think you’re going to have to pay again and suck it up.  If you can confirm that the shipping company messed up, then maybe approach them instead.

I have had many amazing experiences with Etsy and two bad ones.  I created a case for one and got a full refund.  I find escalating is the best option!

I sell on etsy and I’ve had a couple of mishaps with shipping. Find out why the package was returned. If the problem was caused by the seller, she should pay return postage. If it was because you provided an incorrect address, then the return postage is on you. If the problem was caused by the post office then etsy will side with the seller. Once the package leaves the hands of the seller and they have done all they can to ship to the address provided by the buyer, it’s out of their hands.

I, on the other hand, always think the customer is right and if the package is returned to me for whatever reason, it’s my responsibility to make sure it gets delivered correctly. That’s just the way I run my business and I think most of the etsy sellers run their businesses the same way.
