100000% yes. I had it a few times trying on dresses but the main one was at the most expensive place. The people were really nice but it was too nice. Every dress was “drop dead gorgeous on me and could be the one.” It seemed very fake because every dress defintely did NOT look great on me lol. Then one dress my Fiance started saying HE really liked it & liked it the best out of any he had seen so far so they ramped it up & all their employees were saying it was my dress but all I could think about was a dress at the last place I went to (which I ended up buying) and in my head I was screaming this is not my dress

I tried on a Kate Middleton knock off dress and I swear I broke out in hives.

anonbee4321:  They’re sales people at the end of the day lol. They all do that. Everytime I tried on a dress they all were super nice “THIS LOOKS AMAZING ON YOU”… even if I looked like a busted can of biscuits.  I’d give them a look and just say “no let’s go onto the next one”.. lol

nowyouareaghost:  Thank you! It is Essense of Australia D1762. I believe they discontinued it, though. ๐Ÿ™ Not 100% sure!  I cannot find it on their website anymore and when I wanted to try it on, I called all EoA retailers within 100 miles of me and no one had it. I had to pay to have a sample shipped from the designer. I know there was 2 other styles that were almost identical but with slightly more mermaid at the bottom also. I’d just double check if you’re really interested ๐Ÿ™‚ I just know I bought it in November and when I was going on their site in January I couldn’t find it anymore.. Not sure if they still manufacture it or not but it isn’t on the EoA site as far as i know.

nowyouareaghost:  The other one is still on their site I just found it Essense of Australia D1741. I just didn’t like the crinoline on the mermaid version ๐Ÿ™‚

When I first went to try on gowns I had no idea how HEAVY most of them would be. Please note, I’m a major tom-boy who almost never wears dresses, and if I do, they’re shorter!

YES! I tried on a huge ballgown (bc the sales rep said I just HAD to) with -no joke- a feathered bodice LOL… I was ready to get out of it the second they put it on!

Can’t find my pic but it was a similar top to this one:

I tried on mermaid dresses and immediately wanted to take it off. The lady that was helping me never tried to assure me that I looked good in something that I didn’t. I really appreciated her honesty.

zoey0317:  Oh, thanks! It is a nice dress and one of a few styles I’d like to try when I start dress shopping (not engaged yet, sadly). I just never know what will look good on my body until I try it on! ๐Ÿ™‚

For sure. At DB I told her what types of dresses I liked and she insisted that I try on a Mermaid with a slip. I tried on the dress without the slip because I hate slips and told her I did not like the dress as a mermaid type dress wasn’t for my figure. Well she told me to try it on with the slip and my views were still the same. I couldn’t breath and I could barely move my legs. I couldn’t wait  to get out.

Blueghostgirl:  Right! I am also super self concious and it was tight on me. It was pretty much a horrifying view… haha!

nowyouareaghost:  Oh I totally get that. I was all over the place with styles but this one i loved. It didn’t look good on me just yet but I HAD to have it. I had to lose approx 25 lbs to make it look good on me. ๐Ÿ™‚ Almost there!

I’m sure you’ll find something when that time comes that just screams “this is it!”
