I had tight curls when I was little, thick wavy hair as an adolescent, and now fine, pin-straight hair as an adult in my 20’s. It’s not thinning (I’m not losing hair), the hair itself is just much finer than it used to be.

This is so crazy that it is such a common thing, I had never heard of this happening!

Yep! My hair has always been pin-straight, but when I was a child it was a very pale white-blonde. When I hit puberty it started darkening, and now it is a muddy red. I used to hate it and dyed my hair blonde to cover it, until I found out the same exact thing happened to my mom! Now I just consider it a family quirk.

Mine used to be straight and now it’s a bit wavy. Its been that way for many years, but now my hair grows out black when it has always been brown.

This happened to my mom a few years ago; I think it must have been associated with a hormonal change because of menopause. Her hair went from stick straight to super wavy/borderline curly. She just blows it out straight because she has no idea how else to style it, having had straight hair for the first 50 years of her life.
