I am looking into purchasing my wedding gown online, since it is ridiculously cheaper!! I have found a website that has some amazing dresses for half the cost in bridal salons, and I am in love with this dress!!! Of course the reviews listed on their websit itself are all positive (duh, why would the company post negative reviews, right?) But I am trying to get an objective view here. Have any bee’s ever used this website? Please share your story! Thanks so much!!

I should’ve asked your question first :), but I just ordered my dress (above) from them on September 15.
Despite the posted tailoring time of 30 business days, I received an email titled “Order # 100001874 dress has been finished, pls check it!” on September 26! After “approving” photographs of MY completed dress attached to the email (below), I excitedly emailed back an “it looks awesome (or something equally exciting) to me”. Within hours, I received a notice of shipment & tracking number!
My experience summary up to this point.
– Con – tracking number hasn’t showed an update since the 30th!
– Pros – PRICE! (a similar dress that I thought I liked most would have cost 4xs this one that is just what I wanted), the tailoring time (I opted for the custom size), and an actual human who patiently replies to my “the tracking number still isn’t working” emails.
I don’t mind being the Guinea pig, so I’ll keep you updated!

@Chupirul12411: My dearest ladies.
Take it from a bride who has BEEN there.
NEVER – EVER – EVER – EVER entrust the most important dress of your life to an ONLINE store.
I KNOW how much you want the dress of your dreams.
But there is a REASON these places are cheap.
I went through HELL with my dress purchase through one of these online shops.
I had to buy a last minute backup dress.
DON’T do it.
They require you pay up front – and if things don’t work out – if the dress is poorly made or doesn’t get to you on time – you have nothing to bargain with and you are OUT THAT MONEY.
Go TRY ON dresses – and buy from a REPUTABLE local vendor.
Buy with PLENTY of time to receive the dress – ideally a YEAR in advance, but no later than 7 months – seriously.
And know that MANY dresses will look beautiful on you.
It doesn’t have to be the imaginary dress in your head.
Buy one you’ve TRIED ON YOUR BODY.
Spend a little more if you have to – but NEVER buy online.
Yes – SOMETIMES it works out great.
But it is a HUGE gamble.
Dont gamble your money – your time or your emotions.
It is NOT worth it.
a bride who went there – and regrets it.

@MzGT_062213: I hope yours works out as you hope.
Sometimes these things DO work out – but in my research and personal experience it’s just such a gamble. I sincerely hope yours works out for you darling.
Best to you.

@missysahib: Im so sorry that happened to you, that sounds just awful. I am just trying to do research at this time as I am sure there have to be some sketchy dress makers and also some really great ones out there as well. I am just curious which company you used so I can know not to EVER go with them. Thanks so much for your advice!

@missysahib: I’m sorry to hear about your awful experience. I would not wish that on anyone. Thank you for your concern but this far ahead of my day, I’m willing to take the risk. If necessary, I can initiate Plan B.
@Chupirul12411: My dress was in New York as of yesterday am 😉

Honey – I’d love to tell which shop I used. Unfortunately, some of these dressmakers come onto these sites, create a profile and write posts to advertise for themselves.
Because the problem I had may end up becoming a lawsuit, I cannot tell you which online store I used.
All I’m saying is – if you want your wedding dress to end up being a “plan B” dress and you are willing to risk money on the first dress – that’s your decision.
But because of what I went through, I am trying to warn as many brides as I possibly can.
It’s your money, your wedding, your dress and your decision. Some brides do have good experiences with online purchasing through a dressmaker.
But it’s a gamble, darling.
Don’t put yourself in that position.
go to a REPUTABLE shop and purchase a dress you’ve tried on your body.
That’s my advice.
Good luck to you.

Just curious- but how would you go about suing them? Was the online vendor chinese? It would be pretty difficult to sue a company in a different country…

THE WAIT IS OVER!!!!! Below find an obnoxious number of pictures of my new, favorite thing….MY DRESS!!!!!
(Really, I just wanted to highlight all my favorite parts of the dress & mimic some of the site’s views with my actual dress.)
It needs some tailoring & a good steam closer to the date, but I am very happy to have a major check mark complete!!
Hope this helps another bee!

@MzGT_062213: Yay!!!! I am soooo happy for you!!!!! It looks amazing!! I agree it will need some tailoring, but its better for it to be big than for it to be too small, right? Just curious if you ordered it a little big intentionallly? I have heard some girls are doing to that so they can then get it fitted just right. Thanks again for shairing your pictures with us!!

@Chupirul12411: My mother did actually measure me “loosely” because I have an aunt that is a great seamstress! “Yay!” is exactly my feeling. Mine is only one experience, but I hope it helps you decide. It is a big deal purchase, but what’s your timeline for giving it some thought?
