- Wedding: February 2018
claire345 : We have been currently knee deep in the throws of planning our wedding for November this year. Not 2 days ago we decided that we really didnt want, or need, to spend $20k for a wedding and came to a dead stop with everything. Somehow all the details of “OMG we need the perfect matching colors, my gown, choose music to eat, walk, and dance to, the food, what flowers should we choose, what flavor cake you want, the invitations, who is driving who, where do they all sit, we gotta get flights for family to come in, where is everyone sleeping, dont forget to get measured, what time do we start pictures, what time do I start my hair, yadda yadda…” became an over stressing time consuming overwhelming fuss. We just wanna get married and when that lightbulb came on after we realized what it will ultimately cost us in the end, we knew eloping was for us.
We have reserved a spot on a lake side up in the gorgeous Colorado mountains in 2 weeks from tomorrow. We havent told anyone anything about it at this point. They just expect a huge fancy wedding in 9 months.
We do regret that we will forfeit the deposit on the venue but that pales in comparison to losing 20 grand for all the circus planning. We will still wear pretty clothes, and be excited and have the same nervous butterflies, but theres something so loving and special to us to share this moment with just ourselves and 3 of our closest people.
I must also note – we have both been married before, so it doesnt matter to us to have this big huge fancy expensive wedding.
You can do an elopement that is just as beautiful and special as an expensive wedding. But I think that since you will finally be married to your sweet man you wont ever regret how that came to be.
