I don’t get the whole get what you can afford in a diamond thing. Makes no sense to me. You are picking a smaller size solely because of what people will think. Not the kind of life I’d want to live or habit I want to start. Get what YOU feel looks proportional on your finger. Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks. It’s really none of your business. I wear a size 5.25. I found a diamond ring that was a little under a carat and I started to buy it but I couldn’t do it. It was just too small. Granted it was right with my budget but I just thought it was way too small. I tried on a 1.5ct diamond ring and was underwhelmed. I just felt like it was off on size. Tried on a 8mm moissy and fell in love. So 8mm is my personal sweet spot. I don’t care what people say about my ring. I think the only time I will probably take it off around people is during an interview because people are stupid sometimes. Everyone’s perception of what’s too big or small is different so get what you love and move on.
Ps my first set was 1/20 carat and although the size annoyed me I loved what it meant. I just like a lot of stone.
