rosegold52 :  hi there! My wedding menu was choice of filet mignon, roasted chicken, or a vegetarian dish. All came with a side of risotto and I preferred the risotto over mashed potatoes. My venue was full-service and had an AMAZING chef. Risotto can be done really well or really wrong but so can steak! If you have a great chef and a good kitchen (especially if the kitchen is on site) I wouldn’t worry. The risotto at our wedding was great, but the steak really stole the show. People still tell me how great it was. And I agree with them! My husband and I tried so many restaurants during our honeymoon to try to beat our “banquet style” steak and we couldn’t find anything better! Dinner quality was very important to us and we couldn’t have found a venue with better dinner. So my advice is to base your decision on the quality of your caterer/chef.

We did a mushroom and asparagus risotto for our wedding reception and it was perfect. We also had 350 guests I wouldn’t worry about it
