I recently purchased a Birchbox subscription for myself and for Fiance.  I’ve only gotten one month’s worth of stuff, so I can’t say how good or bad it is overall.  The box they sent Fiance was way more disappointing.

It was definitely interesting to try out some new products.  I haven’t found anything I’m in love with though.

I like their online store a lot; they give you points when you purchase products or review samples.  100 points gives you $10 in the store.  So if they are selling something you use then it’s a nice incentive to purchase from them.

I have been getting it for a year.

I’m not the best at being girly, so a lot of the products are a bit over my head,  but I still really enjoy getting that pink box in the mail. I have had a number of samples that I really love, but some months it can be disappointing. I would say that the samples themselves are not always worth the $10/month, but that the overall experience IS worth the money for me. Sometimes you’ll get a really nice full-sized sample that’s worth more than the entire month, and other times you get WTF samples. My favorite sample so far has been a full-sized stilla smudge stick that retails for $20. My least favorite is probably all the stupid hair-bands they keep sending me, since I have short hair.

I’ve heard that there are companies out there doing the same thing, but better, but I’m sorta locked in here, so I stick with it.

Yes, I have it. It’s really hit or miss but sometimes you get some awesome full sized products. There are way too many fragrance samples though. Overall, I love it and usually gift a subscription to my friends.

@missrobots:  The hairbands!!  I have long hair and they’re not snug enough to stay on for me.  Bleh.

I’ve heard Glossybox has larger samples and is more high end, but I also think it’s more expensive per month.

I have it. I’m not 100% sold on it. There have been very few products that I really liked and looked into buying. I’m not sure if I will renew or not.

I have been getting it for the past few months.  It’s ok…. some of the products are great.  Some, ehhh.  I am not sure if I am going to continue my subscription.

Oh, my favorite thing though is that for every product feedback you leave from your box, you get 10 points. 100 points = $10 off. For the first year at least, every 3-6-9-12 months they send you a 20-25% off coupon code to use. You can combine points and coupons and you can add goodies in one of their sections for spending $35.

I bought a ton of stuff recently – got 25% off for a 12 month membership bonus, $30 off for 300 points, my choice of a pick two goodies for spending over $35, and free shipping for spending over $50. I spent well over $100 but my out of pocket cost was around $40-50.

I have been getting it for about 3 months now, I am less than thrilled. I like ipsy better. Birchbox is supposed to be higher end but honestly I have only used one of the produts I got from BB and almost all of the products I recieved from ipsy. Id try out ipsy. The best thing about both of the is you can cancel if you dont like.

@SaltLife22:  I got it as a gift, I got a 3 month “membership.” I had never heard of it before, and thought it was cool. I got a lot of great samples.. I didn’t continue my membership however, but I think it’s a pretty neat gift to get someone. I wouldn’t sign up for a year, but 3 months would be a good idea just to get an idea if you like it or not.

I’m not into much make-up or beauty products, but I did buy the “Here Comes the Bride kit” for a girlfriend and she loved it!  My coworker (who is really into that stuff) thought the products in that kit were amazing also.  So, for me, it wasn’t worth the subscription but is was worth purchasing the products/kits I really liked.

I’ve had it for about a year and I like it. Some months I feel disappointed, but I usually get at least one thing I really like. There are some products that have come in my BB that I just cannot live without. I posted a pic here of all the stuff that I have received over the past year. (I hope that’s okay for me to put that link?)

I like it – it’s $10 for a small surprise every month. I don’t think that’s too bad. As pp mentioned one month they did send tea bags – April? but also got a full size lipstick/gloss that’s pretty awesome and hey I like tea so it was win-win. I think as long as you go in not expecting to be wowed every time it’s worth it. It’s also fun to just try new things, even tea!
