We don’t want speeches, because personally we don’t really enjoy them. We also feel uncomfortable with all the attention.
However, my Future Mother-In-Law is insisting on doing a speech. Since she is contributing to part of the wedding, and because it’s just not a huge deal to us and we know it means a lot to her, we’re letting her to her speech. And because my Future Mother-In-Law is doing a speech, we don’t want to tell my mom not to do a speech, so she’s going to do one as well (but I know she’ll keep it very short).

I definitely wouldn’t do more than 4 people- that would be insane- NO ONE wants to sit through all of them. If you’d rather not, skip them- it is your wedding

I am having speeches if anyone wants to do them. Otherwise, they can do short and sweet and say “thank you to all and best wishes to the couple”
My parents or rather my mom is terrified to give speeches but dad doesn’t mind saying a few words but they’re okay with saying a congrats.
Only stipulation is that speeches must not be longer than 5 minutes. As a guest, I remember droning out many speeches that started going past this mark. The worst was where they’ve had speeches for over an hour….yeah…plenty of people were looking at their phones after the half hour mark. I should add even the bride and groom were looking pretty tired and bored out of their minds, lol.
