@greenflower: The Cayo region now offers a wide variety of choices when it comes to luxury accommodations and creature comforts many have grown accustomed to. There are a few resorts that are in closer proximity to sites such as the caves, Mayan Archeaological sites and others such as cave tubing. If you are looking for luxury and comfort as well as adventure then I suggest that you look into Ka’ana Boutique Resort in San Ignacio. They are a new luxury resort in the area. This is their third year in operation and they offer something different from your typical jungle lodge. I hope you find this helpful.

I haven’t stayed there or booked that particular resort. I will say that I have had a couple of clients who have traveled to Belize in the last couple of years, and they’ve had some issues. One couple was constantly over charged at restaurants and for cabs. They started saying “we’re Belize Americans” and the prices went back down. When they checked in at the hotel, the hotel tried to charge more, even though they paid in full.

I am a firm believer that just because one or two people have a bad experience that it doesn’t mean that everyone would. But the negative feedback we’ve gotten from clients has convinced me not to send anyone there for the time being.

If you wind up going, please let us know how it went!

We stayed at Table Rock lodge. It was amazing. Eco-friendly and not as touristy. We’re planning to go back.
